I visited McGettigan's on Christmas Eve morning with my girlfriend, hoping to start the day on a positive note, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointing experience. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we weren’t welcome.

The waiter who served us seemed uninterested, avoided eye contact, and had a poker face the entire time. When we ordered two English breakfasts and asked for scrambled eggs, only one plate came as requested; the other didn’t, and as a suggestion, add more than only 1 egg per the whole breakfast, because for such breakfast option, it’s already more expensive than other places.

The breakfast offer included coffee, but the waiter didn’t bother to ask us about it. We had to remind him, and when I asked for a café latte, his immediate response was, “It’ll be 5 dirhams extra.” When I asked why, he said the offer only covers an Americano, which wasn’t mentioned anywhere.

The worst part was when he told us, “There are no discounts or offers today,” took the menus, and walked away. It felt abrupt and rude.

Throughout the meal, no one checked on us or asked if we needed anything. Meanwhile, the staff seemed very attentive to the table next to us, who happened to look British. It left us wondering if that’s why they got better service.

At the end, when the waiter came to clear the table, he even tried to take my unfinished coffee without asking if I was done, I had to tell him not to take it away

For the main event, we went for the McGettigan Beef Burger, the Lemon Pepper Chicken, and Spaghetti Bolognese. Let me just say, the burger was a standout! Juicy, soft, and served with crispy fries, it was everything you’d want in a burger. The Lemon Pepper Chicken had that perfect zing, and the pasta was comforting and flavorful.

The service? Absolutely top-notch, thanks to the amazing staff, especially Maxwell, who made us feel right at home. And if you’re a fan of happy hours, you’ll love that drinks are on special until 8 PM. There’s a nice selection of draft beers and other beverages to choose from, perfect for unwinding after a long day.
