Amchi Mumbai Express There are veggie places and there are very good veggie places! Situated in the heart of the ever expanding culinary dynamics of Karama; is this Restaurant cum Cafe called Mumbai Express. It’s cute and cozy inside with a hint of Mumbaiyya subtlety to its interiors- neither too coy nor too loud!! We were greeted by a Cheeeful Rajesh, the Manager of the outlet who explained to us the concept of the place! The flagship dish of this place is Pav Bhaji; a meal of humble origins invented to feed the textile mill workers in Bombay in the mid of 1800, Pav bhaji was later served at restaurants throughout the city and is now offered at outlets from simple hand carts and street vendors to fine dine restaurants world over. This restaurant has thankfully perfected an impeccable Pav Bhaji; which is also their fastest moving item on their menu. The Bhaji is cooked to a fine paste-like form with their trademark spices and masalas which are made in-house itself. The Pav is buttered and pressed on Tawa to give it a crisp outside layer and a mushy inside. Must try out here folks. Pani Puri(Gol Gappa) - another fabulous speciality of this place is the modest Pani Puri, well presented with its green and sweet syrups and fillings in seperate bowls or katoris. The puri is nicely made, fresh and crunchy and makes harmonious combination with the syrups. Soya Chilli Dry- This is their star dish which came as a surprise to me; How can Soya chunks be made that good? ... it tasted just like a non-veggie variant of Indo-Chinese Chilli dish. The Soya Chunks were batterfried in a slight crispy avatar and then sautéed with sauces, Onion and green bell peppers to make this amazing dish! If you like Indo-Chinese then you must definitely go for this. Dhabeli :- another Indian answer to the western sliders; much softer, creamier adaptation with liberal helpings of sev or fried crisps on top! Just melt in the mouth!! This is by far the best Dhabeli I’ve tasted after my Kutch episode. Truly a masterpiece! And Oh... Yes! They have amazing coolers and healthy juices for you to beat the heat- for instance the Watermelon and the lemon mint juices:- both ready to chill, soothing drinks which will help you cool off your worries. A Pav Sandwich:- another signature adaptation of a popular street food into a most-modern incarnation; superb and enticing presentation:- Nice creamy Potato based red gravy in a soft and luscious bread or Pav; in taste you might find it a bit salty but that’s how it tastes. One more bite and I was an admirer already. This made my day!! Papdi Chaat- This is probably the best Papdi Chaat in the whole of UAE. So consistent, great presentation absolute in taste; right combination of sweet, sour and tangy. Just out of the world! At 17 Dhs this might seem a tad expensive but believe me you won’t regret it. Paper Dosa :- A mammoth of a Dosa Two foot long and crunchy just the way I like it! The Sambhar was delish and so were the Chutneys. Stunning looks! Good to know that they also have a terrific Southern Indian line of dishes too! Mumbai Express Special Falooda:- I know a good Falooda when I taste one. Having said that I would reiterate the fact that a good Falooda is an amalgam of three things- ice cream, shaken milk ‘n’cream and nicely boiled vermicelli or spaghetti. The toppings and syrups are secondary! This Falooda is really special- try it to feel it- Kulfi- Another mesmerising and very popular dessert of Mumbai Express is the Kulfi. A kulfi is an Indian answer to the Ice Cream; the word is of Persian origin and dates back to the Mughal Empire during the reign of Akbar the great. Kulfi is much thicken and creamier when compared to ice cream and healthier too since unlike ice cream it uses No Preservatives! Mumbai Express makes its own kulfi and it’s ravishing, rich and creamy. This is my all new favourite veggie place; delectable snacks and starters, amazing Indian sliders, Dosas and Indo-Chinese versions and above all healthy too:- all served fast and Express; Mumbaiyya Style.

Located in a busy lanes of the famous Karama, Mumbai Express is a real Hidden Gem. Small outlet with no ambience as such. Just a nice and warmly outdoor seating arrangement adjacent to the restaurant. Mumbai Express as the name suggest is basically famous for Mumbai street food type of food. Its a pocket friendly restaurant serving vast & diverse range of Mumbai street style food. We had few guest at home so decided to order from here. We asked for variety of their signature dishes like Sevpuri, panipuri, vegetable grill sandwiches, frankies. Everything was amazing. The Pav bhaji was so tasty that my guest were almost licking their fingers in mumbai style, fortunately we had ordered for few extra pav to go with the bhajis. The kesari lassi was also the best i ever tasted. Try their Paneer 65, its just fantastic, the paneer was fresh and soft and the gravy was superb. The quality of each & every dishes were top notch, they deserve rating beyond 5 stars for sure. Mumbai Express is very highly recommended, do visit this Hidden Gem or just order food at the comfort of your home, you surely wont regret.

During my recent visit to this restaurant, I encountered some areas that could be improved to enhance the overall dining experience. I was initially excited to explore their menu, but I found the prices higher than expected compared to similar restaurants. Additionally, the portion sizes did not seem to align with the cost. Come on; you shouldn't be charging AED 27 for a paneer Manchurian dry that is only half filled in your small serving plate and the rest with raw cabbage. Facts check: You are a casual dining restaurant in Al Karama.! The wait time for our food was longer than anticipated, which was a bit disappointing, especially considering that the restaurant was not particularly busy at the time. I also noticed that the upkeep of the tables and the cleanliness of the floors could be improved, which affected the overall ambiance. In conclusion, I believe that there is potential for this restaurant to offer better value and service to its customers. I hope that they take these points into consideration for future improvement.

Nothing can beat a craving for a chatpata snack. Especially during winter when all you need is a hot and spicy snack to devour.

Located in the heart of Karama is Mumbai Express which brings the authentic desi flavours to the table. I was invited by the restaurant for a menu tasting.

The vegetarian restaurant has a huge variety of options for breakfast, evening snacks and beverages. We decided to start off with a Dahi Batata Puri and Soya Chilli Dry. The chaat was a bit bland but the Soya Chilli Dry was flavourful and delicious. We also tried the Classic Pav Bhaji which was an absolute winner.  The block of butter melted away in the creamy bhaji and the pav was toasted with masala which gave it an additional savoury flavour. After we relished these dishes, we tried the Schezwan Cheese Frankie. It was two small rolls of paratha but it was quite filling and tasted alright.

The restaurant has a TV which shows the preparation of various dishes and one of the dishes sparked our interest. Hence we requested to try the Cheese Masala Pav and we were glad that we did. The masala pav was filled with shredded cheese and masala was just lip-smackingly good.

No trip to a chaat place is complete without trying the Pani Puris, of course. Almost hidden in the side of the restaurant is the live chaat corner where we had the Pani Puris. The spicer it was, the better it got.

Finally, we ended our food journey with a steaming hot cup of Filter Coffee and Milk Tea. Although there was a bit too much sugar, the hot beverages were nice.

The staff was polite and helpful with the suggestions. The pricing is great as it is quite economical and the portion size is good.

Overall a lovely place to grab breakfast or...
