Origins At Vida Dubai Marina & Yacht Club — Restaurant in Dubai

I’m shocked at the amount of positive feedback this restaurant received. My honest opinion is that it was the worst food I’ve ever had. I ordered salmon with spinach and mashed potatoes. I rarely eat mashed potatoes so it’s a treat for me that I am excited about. They completely ruined it. First of all, I ordered salmon yet I received cod fish or some other fish. Tastes horrible. The mashed potatoes were not fresh it had that odd taste when you leave the potatoes sit for too long and then warm it up again. The spinach tastes like nothing no taste and felt like it was warmed up in a microwave. I of course complained about it and they replaced my food but it still hasn’t met my expectations although I ate it because at that point (after 1 hour sitting there) I was very hungry. Then I asked for the bill but I specifically said I was to pay with UbyEmaar points. He asked for my card. And just used my card to pay without my authorization and although he applied the 15% discount that I get as a Gold member at Emaar, still that’s not what I asked for when I gave him my card. Anyways, the manager sorted it out and apologized and offered a free coffee- which I don’t drink so no thanks. Was overall a very bad experience and the views and location couldn’t make up for it...

Located inside the Vida Dubai Marina & Yacht Club, Origins caters to locals and tourists. Visited Origins for dinner on a Friday night, and the outside terrace was half-empty. The interior and exterior are airy, expansive, and beautifully designed, including an open-plan kitchen. The dinner menu is unimaginative, offering some staples such as beef stroganoff, chicken kebab, pasta dishes, sandwiches, and burgers. The breakfast menu is far more varied and attractive with indulgent and healthy choices. The service was superb, although the timing of the serving of the dishes from the kitchen was all wrong. Origins is regularly featured in the Entertainer app, featuring two for one offers on main dishes, making it a more affordable dining option for locals. Service at it’s best. The Team Koyena, Khairy, Raibhav, Anand this evening won’t be special without them.
