The Worst Restaurant on Earth — Stay Away! I visited this restaurant on September 22, 2025. They served low-quality, tasteless sushi and charged me 453 AED. A while later, the manager came over with a credit card machine and said, “Your previous payment didn’t go through, could you please pay again?” I trusted him and paid a second time — but then I was charged twice.
When both payments appeared on my card three days later, I immediately called the restaurant to request a refund. They asked for my WhatsApp number, and a conversation began with the same manager who had asked for the second payment that day.
He never once gave me his name. Later I found out he had done the same thing to other customers — I even received a screenshot showing proof of another double charge. He demanded, “Give me the transaction number, as shown in this image.”
I made an international call to Japan, spending over 500 AED and more than 30 minutes trying to obtain that transaction number. When I finally provided it, he asked for my UAE bank account number, which I also gave him. Then he told me, “Come to the restaurant to get your money.”
So why did he ask for the transaction number in the first place? At that point, all I wanted was to be reimbursed for the call cost and travel expenses.
It became clear to me that the manager refuses to identify himself because he’s been repeating the same scam on multiple customers. I explained that I live more than 100 km away, so I couldn’t come immediately to collect the money. From that day on, he stopped replying.
I even called the Hilton Hotel, since this terrible restaurant operates as a tenant inside their building, but they only said, “The restaurant’s management has nothing to do with us.” No matter how many times I called, they refused to help.
I kept sending messages to the WhatsApp number the manager gave me — all ignored. When I called the restaurant, a woman answered, saying, “I’ll report it to the manager and call you back,” but she never did. It happened twice.
After weeks of being ignored, I finally rented a car, drove over 100 km again, and went to the restaurant to demand my refund. They told me, “We can’t give you the money today.” They had already taken my bank account number, told me to come in person, and when I did, they said they couldn’t refund me — unbelievable.
I am certain this was due to the restaurant’s negligence and dishonesty, not any misunderstanding. When I arrived, the manager seemed angry — but honestly, I was the one who had every right to be angry. After childish excuses, he finally gave me the refund but forced me to sign a strange paper.
I will never forgive them until they repay the international call charges and transportation costs. It seems this restaurant, called OVO, enjoys making problems bigger instead of solving them.
Finally, as I was leaving, a big man who appeared to be security came up to me and asked, “Why are you so angry?” I replied, “Because this place is extremely low level.” He said, “This restaurant is top level.” At least his sense of humor was world-class.
I will never forgive them until they apologize for the unjust charges and fully reimburse all costs I incurred. I strongly advise anyone who reads this post to stay away from this restaurant.

The ambiance at Ovo Dubai is a perfect balance—cozy yet vibrant, with music set at the right level so you can still enjoy conversations. The lounge is beautifully chilled and inviting, making it easy to relax, socialize, or even dance the night away without a worry. We also met so many beautiful new friends during our visit, which made the evening even more memorable.

It’s a shame to say that I am extremely disappointed in the quality and in the service that OVO provided to us.
We had the function on 01 NOV starting at 1:30. When we got there at 1:00, the Halloween decorations were still up, the glass surfaces (wine coolers, windows etc) had these handprint and smudged decals on them (which made them look dirty and we’re not taking down for the entire stay) and lots more Halloween decorations that remained up.
There were drinks on the table (not ours), a dirty DJ stand full of Dust and just general uncleanliness.
Guest started arriving before the plan time, and our host was sitting down on his phone, not taking down the decorations and subsequently blaming the other staff for why the decorations were not taken down.
In addition, by complete coincidence, I had asked the DJ if he had everything he needed. He did not have a plugged point which OVO did not have.
Me, the guest paying a good amount had to order one on special delivery and use my money for it.
To their credit, when all of these issues got solved POST the guests arrival the atmosphere was great and the service was good. Our guests were pretty happy at the end of it.
I have limited amount of experience in the service industry. If I ever had a client who was paying what we paid, I would ensure every single table was spotless and we did not have to intervene even a second.
A good boss or host would take active action rather than being called to it.
