Edited November 2021: went for a business dinner meeting, the menu choice was either all you can eat pizza (for all) or a la carte (for all), so we took the second. I again chose the Osso bucco and asked for good chunk of meat and bone marrow, the chef himself sent me exactly what I asked for. Every one was very happy with their choice: 2 truffle risotto and 1 pasta quatro formaggi (special order). We also asked for 2 tiramisu to share (bigger portion) since we were told each one is enough for 2, but honestly 1 was enough for 4 (pictured). It was one of the best virgin tiramisu (sans amaretto) I’ve had. My previous review 3 yrs ago: Was supposed to have a professional meeting 2 days ago with dinner afterwards at Kitchen 6 on 6th floor of J W Marriott Marquis Dubai, but was cancelled without notice. So I opted to dine at Positano on the second floor, having had group breakfast twice before and met the wonderful chef there. He showed me around the restaurant explaining their cuisine and showed me where Dubai Water Canal was to run by the balcony on that floor opposite the restaurant. My friend was with me and we were seated promptly (uncrowded place) and the waiter came right away. The place was dark and the decor mostly grey and black, nothing Italian, not the music nor the paintings. Looking out the window one sees new bridge being constructed making it a place with no view, maybe explaining the uncrowdedness !!! We had to wait for the bread after changing the cutleries ????!!! But the bread was way less than expected, some reddish but soggy (? tomato-flavored) and others plain, sliced thin and very airy, not crusty. We ordered beef lasagna but was heavy on the taste and Parma ham pizza which was excellent. The service ruined the beauty of the food. We had to literally hunt for our waiter every time we needed something (bread, parmigiana, basilicum, and above all the bill). I thought he said the small water was Pana for 20 and the large was local for "13" so I chose the local. The price was on the bill "30" !!!! I told him I buy 6 bottles of 5 liters of water for that price !!! The manager came for literally seconds and left without any comments on the shocking water price. Unless the service rises up to the level of the chef and the location moved to an upper floor (where many meeting rooms are filling such floors unfortunately), 2...
Read moreMy wife and I went here for New Year’s Eve dinner. Unfortunately, they didn’t meet our expectations and I can’t give them anything more than 2/5.
Ambience: Not the best. No views of the city. Surrounded by Thick curtains. Not super romantic at all. Not the best choice for a date night.
Staff: Staff were helpful. However, didn’t come enough to our table. I noticed it was hard to get a hold of them even to ask for water.
Food: Unfortunately, when it came to food, they didn’t meet our expectations at all. For a restaurant that was so highly recommended, we were very surprised. The bread that they usually bring took forever to come to our table. They eventually brought the bread but they quickly followed it with our appetizers. So we didn’t even get to enjoy the bread because the appetizers came right after. They also made the mistake of not bringing the food together. The pizza that my wife ordered came first almost with the appetizer. We asked for it to be sent back because my food wasn’t ready and we were still eating the appetizer. They took the pizza back and while the waiter said they would make a new pizza, it looked like they brought the same one back with my food and the pizza felt room temperature. For myself, I ordered the seafood pasta. While it was good, the oyster tasted very seafoody which I didn’t enjoy. We did make these points to the chef and he explained the situation. Regardless, our experience was already ruined and we won’t go back. We did get a dessert on the house as an apology. That’s why I can’t give...

Bartender makes the best aperol spritz in town, often get served watered down versions of it at other restaurants.
We ordered the seafood linguine, carbonara and a pizza. Pasta was cooked perfectly, sauces were thick and flavours were rich. There was plenty of seafood in the linguine. We wanted to try different flavours of pizza but were worried it would be too much food, so our server recommended having 2 flavours on one pizza. Worked out perfectly for us.
We also received complimentary lemon sorbet...
