SALT Downtown — Restaurant in Dubai

I would like to begin with an apology as this incident has nothing to do with the SALT in Dubai, rather this matter is for the SALT branch in “bahrain”. I have no other page to put this on, and I’m hopeful that I may reach the right person through this channel.

I along with 2 friends visited Salt’s, first & new location in Bahrain at Marassi Galleria Mall on 18th June 2024 at 3:00PM. We had to wait an hour to be able to order, finally when we were able to order, we had to wait another 30 minutes to be seated, followed by another 30 minutes to be served our food. While getting seated we were escorted by a very ill-mannered waiter named “Jay”, who continued to talk & treat us very rudely. We waited for our food for over 30 minutes, and were yet not served our food. We had asked another waiter to check on the order, who informed us is nearly ready. We waited for an additional 30 minutes, while watching customers who had just been seated receive their food, eat & leave.

We had asked “Jay” to call the manager, and waited for 15 mins and failed to show. we then got up and went looking for the manager ourselves. The manager of that branch is “Khalid”. Upon meeting “Khalid” we immediately explained to him our situation (I.e. the horrendous wait time, jay’s ill-mannered customer service & not receiving our food while everyone before and after were). Khalid immediately agreed with everything, then grabbed my friends hand, firmly shook it, apologized, took our order number and said he will personally complete the order and get it to the table within 5 mins and followed it with a fatherly like kiss to the forehead.

We then waited for an additional 30 minutes, once again, all the old customers had left and the new ones arrived who were then served their orders. Being very upset, having to essentially plead for the food we have paid for, we had gotten up, walked straight to the cashier and all we asked for was a refund for the food we haven’t received for hours!

While waiting for the money, naturally, I was talking to my friend, stating that “this was one of the worst resturant experiences we have ever had and that the service is absolute rubbish! “Khalid” (who clearly does NOT understand the English language being spoken in a speed faster than his food is being served) immediately begins raising his voice, followed by screaming at his customers! He carried on with his vulgar howling and further raised his voice when finally! We! Had! Enough! And immediately raised our voice back! The barbaric excuse of a manager then realized he was at fault and begin asking us to lower our voice (when our tones raised only after he had started screaming at his customers). Finally we were refunded and met with another employee named “raed”, who informed us that this has already happened 3 times today, took our number and tried to have our food delivered to us later. While failing to understand that the food was not the problem, the principle and the situation we were put in was. Being very upset, embarrassed and mad we simply said thanks and walked away.

It was an embarrassing site to be part of! We have never been treated like this at any resturant not only in Bahrain but, around the world.

Based on our experience, I would rate this place below “Zero” stars, I would never ever visit again! Nor would I recommend it to anyone I know and it’s a shame I have had to go thorough this experience as I have heard so many good things from my...

Today, I visited SALT Burgers at Dubai Mall, and it was an experience worth sharing. Nestled in one of the world’s largest shopping destinations, SALT has built a reputation for serving high-quality burgers in a trendy, laid-back setting. Naturally, my expectations were high.
