Café Bateel - Dubai Mall — Restaurant in Dubai

Café Bateel is a decent place to enjoy a meal with your loved ones. It is located in the Dubai Mall on the lower ground floor. It has indoor and outdoor seating available, both with a spectacular view. Inside, you get to dine with a waterfall view, and outside, you get to enjoy a meal with Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain view.

Since it's a popular place you will find it mostly crowded, hence the staff also remains busy. The staff is polite and works fast to attend to their customers. Rana served us and helped us decide our meals. Since I am a vegetarian, I decided to go for a Mediterranean sandwich, as it was the only vegetarian sandwich available, and my husband went with Chicken Club Sandwich. Also, vegetarian options are very limited here.

We were served a bread basket along with Olive Oil, which was delicious. We both loved their breads. Talking about sandwiches, the Mediterranean sandwich was good, but my husband didn't like his chicken sandwich at all. Along with our main course we ordered a Japanese's Green Tea which arrived after we finished our meal. I fond pricing a little high considering the taste of the food was not up to the mark.

Overall, it's a decent restaurant, and it's a one-time go...

Bad customer service

Ramadan Kareem!

Last night , me and my fiance visited your Dubai Mall Branch to get a 10 box of ramadan dates in a box. As soon as my fiance picked up one of the display box to check, your staff named Joy butt in and said thats 1,200 (I honestly forgot the exact amount she said) without even greeting us. Not even a simple hi. That was already a red flag in a span of only 2 mins. We were shocked. Is that how she welcome client in your store? We ignored and continued checking around. My fiance said that he want to order for a certain date because he want the dates to be fresh. Joy answered in unfriendly tone “all our dates are fresh”. My fiancé kept his cool and tried to be chatty. But Joy’s gesture, the way she talk and the bad atmosphere around her is undeniable hence i told my fiancé that we better leave coz we dont like the way she treated my fiancé. Both me and my fiancé have a hospitality related job thus we both know Joy needs to be told and she needs to improve her customer service...

Good desserts but let down by poor service.

On my first visit the service was ok but not bad. I liked their desserts, so I came back again. Never had their meals, so I can’t comment on that.

On this visit, I was waiting patiently to be seated. Staff walked past a few times but didn’t even give me any acknowledgment, like “please wait” or “I’ll be with you in a moment” etc. Majority of the staff (about 4-5 of them) were behind the counter, and only 2 of them were walking back and forth in the seating area.

Once I got the seat, nobody came to take the order. Again, they kept walking past me a few times but just couldn’t care to ask if I was ready. I tried to make eye contact and wave but they didn’t seem to care. I was patient enough to wait for 10 minutes or so, then just walked out.

For the benefit of the doubt, I guess they were understaffed, but then there were 4-5 of them doing nothing behind the counter.

If management still cares about this branch, they should look into the problem and do something about it before they lose...
