This was my first visit to Scarlet at City Walk. While I was highly impressed with the bakery, my experience from a customer service perspective was not that great. I visited for breakfast on Monday 19 Feb, along with my friend, and we ordered breakfast and thought we will leave some dessert items till the end. At 11.04 am we noticed a sign next to the entrance on a coffee and Danish combo till 11. We already had our coffee along with breakfast but since we were already planning to get something sweet we asked the waiter if we can use the combo offer since we were already seated and ordered breakfast and coffee at the restaurant by around 10.40. But we unfortunately got the "lazy" answer that it's past 11 so we cannot use it, you can order separately. While yes it was past 11 by 4 min when we asked about the offer, first of all the waitress who took the order could have been proactive by alerting us to this offer when we asked for coffee along with the breakfast. Second, even if she didn't, I don't understand why an exception could not be made especially that we ordered already other items so we were not just there for coffee. I was planning to buy some bakery and pastries to take away when leaving, but after this lazy response and unnecessary incident, I changed my mind and left. It's all about customer experience..you don't get loyal customers from lazy responses, you get them when you go out of the way especially that it wasn't a major request...

Read moreNice cafe and bakery off one of the busiest intersections outside of Downtown. Parking's available between their building and the Arena, you can claim free parking from there. We usually park across in City Walk though(but you can't claim the AED5 for this side's parking sadly).
Outdoor seating is available and it's best to sit there in the morning when the building throws you a nice shade from the morning sun. There are many tables inside, too.
Coffee's good, on par with the good cafes. I have mixed feelings on german baked goods though. The bread's a lot nicer to look at than to taste, bright pillowy golden browns well accented by the warm lighting. I'm just...not a fan of cold bread. The cream custard in some breads adds a nice milky flavor which I like, but that's about it. Pretzels also have a good enough texture...maybe if they could just put it in the oven for a minute, would make a difference for me. Anyway I had the cake today which was good and certainly not subject to the things I was talking about.
Overall experience is actually good, especially for the price - you get plenty of bread for the money you pay(by Dubai standards). We live nearby, we come here at least once every two...
