Summersalt Beach Club — Restaurant in Dubai

This was my first time visiting Summersalt, and I came with three girlfriends for what we hoped would be a fun, relaxing evening. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the most distressing experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

We ordered a round of drinks, and I specifically asked for a non-alcoholic option with passionfruit. One of my friends ordered a passionfruit martini. When the drinks arrived, the server handed me the martini. We double-checked and asked if it was the non-alcoholic one, and he confirmed that it was.

Trusting his response, I took a sip—and immediately felt something was off. The taste was bitter, very different from what I was expecting, especially since my drink was supposed to have vanilla notes. My friends also tasted it and compared it to their drinks. After another sip, I was convinced it was the wrong one.

A few minutes later, the original waiter returned and we asked again. It turned out, I had been given the alcoholic drink by mistake. I have never consumed alcohol in my life, and as someone who is religious, this was extremely upsetting. We explained how unacceptable the mistake was, but the waiter did not apologize—he simply walked away.

When the bill came, we were shocked to find no real acknowledgment of what had happened. The waiter who brought us the check had no idea about the situation. After explaining everything again, he apologized and said they had removed a couple of items. In the end, only the two mocktails (around 120 AED) were taken off a 1100 AED bill.

We asked to speak to the manager, expecting at the very least a sincere apology and a more appropriate resolution. Instead, her response was, "Okay, what do you want me to do?"—which honestly added insult to injury. We asked for the minimum spend related to my meal (250 AED) to be deducted, and she eventually removed an extra plate, bringing the total down to around 800 AED. My friends ended up covering the full bill so I wouldn’t have to.

This entire situation ruined my evening and honestly my entire week. Living in Dubai, a city that prides itself on service and cultural sensitivity, this kind of mistake is unacceptable. Even more disappointing was the lack of genuine care or accountability from the staff.

I sincerely hope Summersalt takes this feedback seriously and trains their team to handle such situations with the attention and respect...

Summersalt is not your ordinary beach club, & no I’m not talking about the views or the ambiance. Yes it has amazing uninterrupted possibly the best & clearest views of Burj Al Arab & the sea but I’m referring to the dining experience. I went inn a little skeptical, cause tbh places like these you go for the vibe or the beach access ( they do offer day pass ) and less for the food. When I opened the menu, I was like oh wow! This is a serious food place, with strong Japanese Peruvian influence clearly visible, I started with some edamame and sushi & drinks, and ordered some salmon tataki and tuna truffle ceviche, both were amazing! Both unique in flavors, strong on taste, fresh and decent portions. Now I knew I’m inn for a treat, I extended my stay, there was live music the sun was setting it was beautiful… also the weather these days is brillant for this venue, although I sat on the upper deck in the semi covered area, they’ve beach seating & a fully covered pvt room etc so whatever suits your liking. Now back to the food, for our mains we had the miso cod and the Hokkaido wagyu steak. Both mains were delicious, the wagyu melted like butter in my mouth oh such a treat !!! By this time the sun has set and the live music mood has changed completely from the afternoon time we had arrived, now it was jazz & the lady was singing well. For desserts we had the Andoo chocolate crémeux, the warm oozing chocolate poring out of the cake, delectable!! And offcourse they’ve decent coffee. So this can easily become your next hangout place! Cause the vibe and the food both are amazing, and is family friendly too ! Just I advise to make reservations for better seating options, the valet is next to the Burj Al Arab entrance so no need to go to the main hotel. Enjoy...
