The Showhouse — Restaurant in Dubai

We recently visited The ShowHouse Dubai at the InterContinental Hotel on December 19th, 2024, to celebrate my birthday. While the live performances and ambiance were truly spectacular and worth experiencing, we were unfortunately left extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism in communication and service management.

We had booked the Gold Package (AED 495 per person - the highest package), which included a three-course menu, drinks, and preferential seating. However, upon arrival, we were told that the set menu was no longer available, and only the à la carte menu was offered. Despite this change, no one informed us of the minimum charge of AED 495 per person until the very end of the evening, when we were presented with a bill of AED 990—much higher than expected.

We had consumed food and drinks worth AED 620 and were only informed of the minimum charge when we were about to leave. The waiter explained that this policy applied because we had made the reservation via email, but this was never mentioned in the confirmation or during the evening. To make up the difference, we ordered 2 additional drinks, 2 glasses of champagne, which turned out to be of very poor quality.

When we expressed our concerns, the waiter apologized, but the manager, who was present, did not make an effort to address or clarify the issue. This lack of transparency and proactive communication was highly disappointing, especially for a venue of this caliber.

To clarify, we did not mind paying for the experience, as the show itself was incredible. However, the miscommunication and unprofessional handling of the situation left a sour taste. For an establishment offering such a premium experience, better management and clear communication are essential.

The "Down the Rabbit Hole" show is an unforgettable experience that truly brings the magic of it. The performances are absolutely mesmerizing, and the performers are so engaging that I found myself clapping with excitement, feeling like a kid again. From the choreography to the stunning visuals, every detail of the show is crafted to captivate and immerse you in this whimsical world. The energy and passion of the performers make the whole experience feel incredibly personal and interactive, which is what I loved most about it.

As for the dining experience, while the food was decent, it wasn’t the standout of the evening. The portions were satisfactory, but nothing extraordinary in terms of flavor or creativity. However, this is completely overshadowed by the quality of the show itself, which more than justifies the visit. We opted for the Gold Package, which gave us prime seating near the stage, and it was well worth it. The package also came with two glasses of champagne and cocktails—special mention to the martini, which was fantastic! Overall, I would highly recommend this experience to anyone, and I will definitely be coming back with my family. The show alone is amazing, and it's something everyone should witness at least once!

One small suggestion for the hostess: I had emailed ahead of time requesting to be seated without anyone directly in front of us, as I wanted to record the show without any obstruction. Unfortunately, this request was ignored, and we ended up with someone, seemingly a colleague or friend of the staff, seated in front of us.
