Finally, we got to drop by this restaurant and I must say we were off to a great start. Going through their menu they had a variety of vietnamese delicacies to choose from. We started off by ordering some cold beverages, ‘Peach Mint Iced Tea’: let me start off by saying that this is the BEST iced tea we’ve ever had, solely due to the fact that it was rich in flavour and not diluted unlike other places wherein it’s overwhelmed with ice cubes. This had the right ratios of black tea : mint : peach fruit : sugar and the blend was too good, definitely felt refreshing. ‘Lychee Soda’: so glad to have tried this, another delightful beverage especially if you love this fruit. A simple concoction of lychee fruit, mint and soda water. A light and fizzy beverage I enjoyed way too much. What I love about their drinks is they have real fruits at the bottom and munching on those added more to it. Highly recommended to give these a go!
Whilst we were waiting for our mains we also tried their ‘Goi Cuon Tom’: a light bite stuffed with shredded carrots, salads, bell peppers and shrimps. This rice paper shrimp roll comes with nuoc cham sauce, I personally enjoyed it with the sweet chilli sauce, the other one has an earthy and nutty flavour. Love the fresh crunch of these rolls and the soft texture of the rice roll.
Having heard a lot about this famous dish of Vietnam, it was im(pho)ssible to not have this. ‘Pho Bo Chin’: an amazingly-hearty beef brisket noodle soup, of simple ingredients and flavours makes you want to say “mmm”. We ordered the medium bowl and it was so filling, absolutely loved the rich beef broth-so healthy and well seasoned. The thinly sliced briskets melted in our mouths along with the super soft noodles. It’s also topped with spring onions and chilli for extra flavour, they do serve it with beansprout, lime and herb platter- makes it more scrumptious! . Another delicious fun fact, this broth has been “brothing” for about 14 HOURRSSS!!, no wonder it tastes REALLY REALLY GOOD! . Y’all have to try their Pho out, they also cater to other meats as well. We are PHO(EVER) in lovveee with this soup.
Our next main dish was from the seafood menu- ‘Ca Chem Nuong’: I’ll start off by saying how creative is their presentation?, to serve this dish on a thick bark of wood with banana leaves at the bottom, I certainly found this eye pleasing. Baked Seabass in Banana Leaves with Stir Fried Veggies and Jasmine Rice, is what’s served here. The flavours here convey a sense of humility with the perfect crunch of the fish, to the scrumptious veggies and the sprigs of herbs placed on top. It was refreshing to indulge in this wholesome meal- the fish was flaky, with hints of mild spices and aroma of the banana leaves, it wasn’t dry at all, the moisture was still intact. Bundle all that with some mint leaves, veggies, and rice…voila ! .
Ending our lunch at Vietnamese Foodies we had to try their desserts, so, we ordered their ‘Burnt Basque Cheesecake’: this was our first time trying basque cheesecake and it really got us saying “cchhheezzeee”. Moist interiors with a subtle tough exterior complementing the texture of the cake exceptionally. It was a delight to have this, you can taste the cheese, a bit of earthy tones due to it’s shell, yes it’s burnt but not burnt okay. A must try if you visit this eatery. Talk about rich and smooth.
We were so pleased with our visit to Vietnamese Foodies, the food was superb, the eatery was tidy and neat, the staff and service was even better- helpful and full of smiles. Conveniently located at the beginning of downtown dubai and also with a splendid view of Burj Khalifa this location...
Read moreVietnamese Foodies Downtown is located on the Boulevard moments away from the Burj Khalifa complete with a view with its floor to ceiling large glass windows and front door. It’s location is enviable making for a bright flood lit lunch spot.
The food is very competitively priced focusing on clean and relatively healthy items from fresh salads, grilled meats, steamed dim sum, rice wraps and hearty pho bowls. It’s a vast menu with a supplemental lunch menu to boot offering three courses for around 70: all with Burj views in the heart of Downtown. This might be Dubai’s best value lunch.
I ordered the lychee soda, duck sausages with betel leaves and plum sauce and the beef & lemongrass noodle soup.
The duck sausages have a coarse meaty texture that feels rustic and not fatty or greasy. The plum sauce is clean without that sickly sweet taste all too common in (bad) Chinese restaurants. It’s a good starter for one or shared among other starters. The beef &lemongrass noodle bowl comes in two sizes: you’ll want the medium size which is still a very generous portion for one person (resulting in some regret in ordering the duck sausages). The bowl is a crimson slick of chilli oil surrounding covering crushed lemongrass, garlic, fresh bird chillis, coriander, mint and bean sprouts as a crown on top of beer slices and thick filling noodles. The broth alone is rich, beefy and could be eaten by the cupful. The crunchy bean sprouts add texture, the chilli oil is not spicy and the aromatics add fresh brightness to the dish. The noodles bulk out the dish for a filling lunch all for 42 dhs.
Would I come back? Absolutely. There’s a plethora of lunch spots around downtown within moments of office workers. The malaise of sandwiches, salads by numbers and wraps quickly grinds on you. This breaks through the same-same offering healthy options at affordable prices.

Read moreWe love Vietnamese cuisine, and my sister invited me to this restaurant because it's one of her favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the city, and we really love the Pho soup with meat.
When we approached the restaurant, it was sunny, and the tables that had shade from umbrellas were taken, so we were offered a table inside, and we agreed. We were seated by the window and calmly ordered our favorite soup. But to our surprise, every 10-15 minutes, different staff members approached our table, specifically behind my sister, and took something from the cabinets. We realized that in the restaurant itself, in the guest area, there are drawers for the staff to store their personal belongings, and the staff occasionally comes, opens the drawer - takes their cosmetic bag or something else, leaves, and then comes back... it was very strange and slightly irritating to us, especially since it all happened right behind my sister's back, very close... You can see in the photo how closely located the staff drawers are to the table 🫣🤔
We kindly request the manager and management to take note of this and change the location of the staff drawers, removing them from the guest area.
Overall, we love this place, the food is very delicious and fresh, and the Pho soup is amazing. We will come back again, but I don't think we will choose a table inside the...
