CÉ LA VI — Restaurant in Dubai

The ambiance is great, but that’s honestly the only good thing about my experience. (The time difference reflects differently because I am back in the US now) but I went here for dinner the other night with friends, however, we had flights late that night/early the next morning so couldn’t stay out too long. My friends ordered a bunch of appetizers, but I only ordered my meal which was the wagyu ribeye. One of my friends expressed that she had to leave soon to head to the airport for her 2am flight and would need her food to be rushed. The waitress said no problem. She then proceeds to bring all of their sushi, but not my steak. So the waitress asks me “would you like us to get started on your steak?” And I was confused because I thought the food would all be started at the same time. So I just told her “honestly don’t even worry about it. I’m going to leave with my friend so don’t worry about making the steak because it won’t be ready in time” she said okay, so me and that friend left about 10 minutes later. My 2 friends who remained at the table are both vegan and would not have even touched that steak. I believe this was a result of greed and trying to make more money because why would you proceed to make a steak that I specifically asked you not to make? Especially after I’ve already left the restaurant?!

About an hour after I left, my friend sent a pic saying that they made the steak ANYWAY, so of course I said yeah just bring it back because I knew that they were vegan and wouldn’t eat it, but I did specifically ask her to cancel the order. When I got the steak it was TERRIBLEEEEE I could immediately tell it was not wagyu quality because the meat was very tough, and it was very overcooked. I asked for it to be medium and it came well-done with no pink in the middle. As you can see the meat is sliced up… I literally ate 2 of the strips and threw the rest away because it wasn’t enjoyable at all. A day later I get the receipt from my friends who remained at the table and I am like why the heck would she charge me for a steak I never asked her to make?! When she brought the steak anyway I assumed it was because she felt bad and it was on the house which is the only reason I allowed my friend to bring it back for me. I would have left it right on that table had I known she was going to charge me despite me canceling the order before it was even made.
