PizzaExpress — Restaurant in Ashford

AVOID.

If I could give minus 5 stars then I would!!!!!!

I usually love Pizza Express and have never had any issues with them either in store or as a takeaway service - both of which I have used for years all across the country - but this branch (Ashford North Street) is the exception to the rule. Certain members of staff are clearly lazy and incompetent.

I ordered a delivery on the Deliveroo App at around 9pm Christmas Eve. The order was accepted by the restaurant. I waited for around an hour and 10 minutes. The estimated delivery time was just continually changed, so I eventually phoned the restaurant at around 22:15, having Googled the store and seen that it said it had already closed for the night by that time. I had no communication from the restaurant.

A woman answered (out of breath, like she'd run the catch the phone) who gave her name as Izzy to say that they were all going out the door and it, to paraphrase, was just tough luck that there were no drivers available and to ''go through Deliveroo''.

She was rude, curt and continually referred to me as ''my lovely'' in a condescending manner.

When I put it to her that I was not informed that my ordered had been cancelled despite the fact that they were all off out the door that minute, Izzy again brushed it off and just told me to ''go through Deliveroo''. She knew of the order but had no explanation at all as to why she wasn't going to bother to inform me that it wasn't being delivered.

All very well saying ''go through Deliveroo' when it's gone 10pm, and you've no way of getting any dinner for the evening!

This is not the kind of service I have come to expect from a company like Pizza Express. Your branch were at fault here for your staff's rudeness and not informing me that the delivery was cancelled!!!!

It seems to me that the staff just do as they please and pass the buck onto Deliveroo whenever it suits them.

Customer service is clearly not a priority.

Needless to say, I will not be ordering from or visiting this branch again. It has become clear to me who's running this shower and the type that they are.

NO EXCUSE FOR BAD...

My husband called to book a table for two half an hour earlier - everthing fine.

When we reached there the local was half empty and still the waitress wanted to give us a table for two where the space was minimal and there was a group of ladies celebrating something. When my husband as for an other table we had to wait to get the approval.

We order passionfruit still lemonade - the glasses were filled with ice up to the top and the actual drink was less than a half of glass. Bare in mine outside were below 0 degrees. Our mistake that we forgot to say no ice.

The food - we were not impressed at all. My husband pizza wasn't what he expected and the taste could be way better and his pasta were delicious but some of them were burnt and you can actually see it in the pictures attached. Also my pizza was supposed to be with mushrooms, ham and olives, however I had just one olive on each slide of pizza I counted 7 in total.

About the staff - they were friendly and caring with probably the regular costumers, but we were treated distant and cold.

Overall, we were both disappointed with this restaurant. I personally don't recomand it and I also believe that two stars are too much I would say 1.5 and my husband...

I can't rate the food as we didn't get to eat. Popped in for a rare lunch treat with my husband and requested to sit at a booth table. The gentleman who greeted us said the table would need a clean before he sat us down and disappeared off, leaving us waiting at the door and didn't come back to clean. A lady then came to seat us and we said we were waiting for the previous guy. She told us the table wasn't dirty but needed cutlery. So we sat down, she put the menus on the table next to us, gave us cutlery and walked away. Sensing the service would be slightly slack (bear in mind, there were no more than 5 other tables taken in the room) I managed to catch the attention of the lady to ask the table number so we could order on the app. Unfortunately, the table number she gave us didn't work... so we gave up...
