We booked a table for 11, on what turned out to be a very quiet evening.
Before we arrived, we were sent an email asking what we were visiting for; a birthday. This was a pointless email, it did not impact our visit in anyway.
We were not greeted when we walked in, I had to approach a staff member and let them know we were there for a reservation. He did not say Hello, just repeated my name back to me and walked us upstairs.
The table we were sat at was a long row of individual tables, pushed together with no gaps between them, which meant should someone wish to get up, from the wall side, everyone had to move to let them out.
The floor under the tables was covered in squashed chips that had been left over from a previous guest. I had to ask to have them cleaned up, unless we wanted to get squashed potato on our shoes. Our server, who was the only other staff member we interacted with, silently cleaned up the chips when asked, But only when asked. Otherwise this seemed like an unusual request.
We ordered. The server stood at the end of the long row of tables and did not make any effort to walk along the table taking the order, which meant we needed to shout so he could hear us.
We asked for table water, we got one fairly small pitcher for us all.
The food arrived within a reasonable time frame and the pizza was nice.
When it came to paying, we all calculated our own totals, including the 10% service fee and made individual payments. I paid last. When I asked what was left on the bill, the server had no idea. He had been taking the payments we offered, so there was clearly no actual bill, it was just made up as they went along.
There was no ambience, no subtle background music, it was quiet with only 1 other couple sitting upstairs.
It was very disappointing. Lack of actual service or interest from the staff, no reference to the fact finding email we had been sent that asked why we were coming. No mention of the birthday for which we were there.
It was fine, and just an indication of how disinterested your staff are working there. I’ve worked in the service industry all my life, from restaurants, hotels and retail. It pains me to give a bad review, but you guys suck.
We wont be going back to this restaurant or any of your ‘sister’ locations that have been emailed to me...
Read moreMy friend and I went there on a weekend. It was 11:15 and the 2 of us were practically the first customers of the day. It was the worst experience ever. The staff was so rude, the waiter was a lady who looked irritated to be serving us. She banged the plates on the table and hastily served the drinks without a smile once. We ordered garlic bread and the Ortolana pizza. One of the cooks from the back of his counter asked "are you Muslims?" We were both wearing hijabs and I didn't at first think much of it because the guy looked like Pakistani/Afghan/Bangladeshi and I thought he probably just wanted to get along. He also asked where we were from and I said Bangladesh. Then he asked if I spoke in Hindi and he started to converse in Hindi. I apologetically said I didn't understand Hindi. I think he took it personally and served 6 pizzas to the family (who were white) that came after us and still we did not get our 2 items. I decided to speak up about it and he along with the waiter said that it was because we ordered a starter (garlic bread) + pizza which was taking time and also that we did not tell them to bring both items together. I replied that the waiter never asked us if we wanted them together and that it takes more time to prepare 6 pizzas than 1 pizza and garlic bread. The waiter and the chef both denied it and said that they did ask. I was astounded by the level of accountability and flat lie to my face. What was more is that when paying the bill, we saw there was a 10% charge for the service. I am definitely not ever recommending this place. I should have asked to speak with the manager. This was racism. You have no right to treat customers in a biased way just because they are of different religion or do not speak your language. Not all...
Read moreI'd say the food was average but the service was poor. Pizza was pleasant but nothing special. We ordered one pizza, one Vege pizza that was maybe a 4/5 and a Nduja pizza that was disappointing. The Nduja pizza had very little Nduja as a topping, making the main flavour the very generous portions of mozzarella. It was nice but disappointing as you expect to taste the headline ingredient on a pizza. The main issue was the service. After being seated we had to wait quite a while for anyone to come and take our order. The restaurant was very busy, but the kitchen was turning out large numbers of take out orders. It appeared to be prioritising this over in house customers. We could see the pickup point for the plated pizzas and they certainly appeared to be outnumbered by the cardboard boxes. It took over half an hour for the pizzas to arrive after ordering and we had to ask for our starter (just some olives) when they came to deliver our pizza's. They also took a very long time to deliver the bill after requesting it and no members of staff returned to take payment. We eventually got tired of waiting and went up to the tills to go and pay. We ended up spending 1hr45 when I would expect a group of 2 to spend 1hr or less when not ordering dessert. This can perhaps be explained by the high footfall due to 'eat out to help out' but even so I don't think the food warrants the "best pizza in bath" award that they proudly display around the restaurant. As I'm not a local I don't know the competition in Bath, but I have had many better pizzas at restaurants. Frankly I would rather have a pizza from a fraco manca or even perhaps...
