No doubt, this has the making of a very good eatery. However, there are a lot of issues to sort, some of which are fundamental. The first problem is that when you advertise yourself as "fine dining", you immediately set a bar. Sepoy is nowhere near fine dining.
Popadoms were awful - little crisp sized things served in a bowl, stone cold and like one would buy in a bag in a supermarket. No great array of dips - just raita and chutney.
The most pressing issue is to sort out the menu. The non-veg starters are crazily expensive. I had salmon tikka (£15), which was a main course portion. Very large and absolutely not a starter. It was deliciously moist, with a perfect gentle heat, but with the skin left on. Not "fine dining". Halve the portion size and halve the price. Other starters are similarly priced (grilled prawns at £17) though whether the same big portions I know not. Malai tikka at £13 was "normal" size. They have the pricing and portions completely wrong here.
Second, is the fact they offer no side dishes whatsoever. Why this omission? We shared a bhindi main as a side, which was way too large for this purpose.
Thirdly the service. Distant, un-engaged and flaky. All the food arrived at one end of the table (there were 6 of us), and hot dishes had to be passed down by hand. The waiter could have walked around the table to serve both ends, but didn't. Not remotely "fine dining".
The food is the good news. The bread wasn't the best, but everything else was excellent. My partner loved his paneer tikka, but would have liked more paneer. My keema mutter was a flavour bomb. The bhindi main we shared was also great - lightly cooked, with a sour kick. All the food was spicy, so beware. Their "3 chilli" is definitely a three.
The place is good news for curry addicts like us, though I truly hope they take notice and make adjustments. If not, it's going to hamper their chances. We'll definitely be back, though not very often if it...

The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, blending modern sophistication with a nod to rich Indian heritage. The staff were incredibly attentive, striking the perfect balance between friendly and professional, making us feel right at home.
Now, the food—wow! I cannot recommend the Chilli Naan enough; it’s a fiery delight, perfectly spiced with chopped green chillies that add just the right kick to every bite. Paired with the Fauji Canteen Goat Curry, it was a match made in heaven. The goat curry itself was a revelation—tender, slow-cooked meat on the bone, swimming in a robust yogurt gravy infused with mustard oil and brown onion. The depth of flavor was unreal, with every spice coming together in perfect harmony. It’s hearty, authentic, and easily one of the best curries I’ve ever tasted.
Every dish we tried was crafted with care, using fresh ingredients that truly shine through. The Sepoy Club elevates Indian cuisine to an art form, and I’m already counting the days until my next visit. If you’re in Bath, do yourself a favor—head here, order the Chilli Naan and Fauji Canteen Goat Curry, and prepare for a meal that will...
