The Ivy Restaurant in Bath offers an exquisite dining experience that seamlessly blends elegance and culinary artistry. From the moment you step through its doors, the ambiance exudes a graceful charm, and the staff's attentive and gracious service adds to the overall sense of luxury. The star of the evening was undeniably the Blackened Cod Fillet. Served on a delicate banana leaf, the cod was masterfully prepared with a flavorful soy marinade that elevated its natural taste. The dish was thoughtfully accompanied by citrus pickled fennel, adding a refreshing and tangy contrast, while the perfectly cooked broccoli provided a satisfying crunch. The yuzu and herb sauce tied everything together, adding a zesty and aromatic note that harmonized beautifully with the fish. Each element of the dish was not only a feast for the taste buds but also a visual delight, showcasing the chef's meticulous attention to detail. The combination of flavors and textures demonstrated a deep understanding of culinary balance and finesse. The Ivy's commitment to delivering an exceptional dining experience is evident in every aspect of the meal. From the tasteful décor to the expertly crafted menu, it's a place where every detail has been carefully considered to ensure an unforgettable evening. For anyone seeking a memorable dining experience in Bath, UK, The Ivy Restaurant is a must-visit. The Blackened Cod Fillet, with its exquisite presentation and tantalizing flavors, stands as a testament to the restaurant's dedication to culinary excellence. The finale to the dining experience at The Ivy Restaurant in Bath was equally impressive. The Frozen Berries, a delightful combination of mixed berries accompanied by a refreshing yogurt sorbet and fragrant lemon balm, was a refreshing and light conclusion to the meal. The warm white chocolate sauce added a luxurious touch, creating a perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors. Each component worked harmoniously, offering a satisfying and palate-cleansing end to the meal. This dessert truly exemplified the restaurant's commitment to both creativity and quality, leaving a lasting impression and rounding off an exceptional dining experience.

12pm Thursday lunch, no wait. Very beautiful interior and staffs are friendly. Starter steak tartare £12.95, score: 10/10 the sirloin are finely diced up, texture is firm and fine. It’s mixed on table side. Well seasoned, one of the best steak tartare in uk I’ve tasted. Portions are small, but perfectly great for two person to share as it came with 4 pieces of small toast, a great starter you wouldn’t want to miss. 2 course for each set only £19.17 score: 10/10 We’ve ordered 2 sets, therefore 2 starters and 2 main Starter: White onion and truffle soup, score 7/10 Honestly couldn’t taste the truffle, sweet onion and smooth texture. Not over seasoned. A solid dish, nothing extraordinary. Salt and pepper squid, its like fried calamari or salt and pepper squid from Chinese takeaway. The batter is light, crispy. Not too flavourful, sauce was okay, it’s a 6/10. Ok dish, nothing too special. Main: I didn’t try out the pie, my wife did. So I couldn’t comment on it, please refer to photo for its presentation. Crab and scallops ink pasta, 8/10 Ink pasta is al Dante, perfectly executed. Scallops are a bit small, therefore couldn’t be seared enough, or else it will overcook. The sauce is full of crabs, generous amount. All of it goes really well, would recommend if you like seafood. It’s slightly fishy for people who doesn’t eat seafood tho (but definitely not chefs fault, it’s a matter of taste) the overall price for 19£ for a 2 course in such a beautiful setting and great service is a steal in 2024. Highly recommend for dates due to beautiful interior and good price. Also could recommend to everyone else as it’s a restaurant that has solid dishes with reasonable price. Would visit again next time if I pass by bath.

I’m in absolute shock at the level of service today at The Ivy in Bath 14/09/24! It was the most slow and atrocious service I have ever experienced. It’s such a shame as the afternoon tea selection was lovely! It was so unexpected having been to the Ivy in Soho and Covent Garden in London. My husband booked an afternoon tea for my birthday as I am a big fan of afternoon teas and have not had one at the Ivy before. He booked it for 3.15pm and we arrived at 3.20pm. We were greeted nicely, seated and asked anything we wanted. At first we just asked for water so we can have some time to look at the menu and decide. It took over half an hour for them to just serve us water. We then asked for mocktail before the afternoon tea. Which took another half an hour to arrive. We didn’t think much of it. Until we saw a table across from us with group of people celebrating baby shower who had arrived 20mins after us have their afternoon teas served. And at this point we were getting quite hungry. By the time they served us the afternoon 90mins has passed! At 4.40 as were discussing whether to leave, the afternoon tea had just arrived at 4.45. So we decided to just tuck in rather than ruin the afternoon. What was bizarre is we had no apology or acknowledgement for the afternoon tea being late. Also during that time we had no server or waiter come to our table to ask if we were ok or needed anything. While all the other tables had multiple visits from the waiters. We were the last people left with afternoon tea on our table while people were coming in to have their dinners for the evening. We had finished our afternoon tea by 5.30. By 6pm when we noticed no one come to even ask if had finished we called over a waiter to bring the bill. We even joked we may have to stay for dinner and bedtime. Again no acknowledgment or apology. By the time we left it was 6.20 and many people who had come for dinner already had their dinner severed, finish and had left. It was the most strange experience we have encountered. Thank god for the great food!

My partner and I went for an afternoon tea after receiving a gift voucher for my birthday. The afternoon tea can only be served from 3pm, which we knew before booking, so as we'd arrived slightly early, we just sipped on our waters until our waitress could put the AT (Afternoon Tea) into the system. My partner who is not a fan of fish, wanted to swap out some of the salmon finger sandwiches for something different. We waited a while for our waitress to come back so that we could ask this, however, upon coming back to us she brought the platter of food with her - meaning we didn't get the option to change. More importantly, our waitress never took our hot drink order, so we were still just sat with water and nothing else once the AT came to the table which was disappointing. I even had to ask for the drink which took a long time to come to our table. Now the food was not great - and for a cost of £29 something (which we would of paid had this not been a birthday present) it was bland and too fanciful. The cucumber sandwiches were mushy - it was pretty disgusting and when I mentioned this to another server, there was no offer of replacing them. The chicken brioche was dry and the salmon sandwiches TINY. The scones were standard, but the sweet desert selection was too sweet! They serve a red-velvet cupcake as part of the AT and you could not prise it from its cupcake case without getting the cream cheese frosting all over your hands! In fairness, my partner was allowed a hot chocolate instead of tea and coffee and my waitress did bring out the Ivy's classic profiterole 'happy birthday dessert' after the food had been cleared from our table which we agreed was a nice touch. Honestly, we would NOT recommend the Ivy Afternoon Tea - too much focus on flare rather than taste. Whilst our waitress was polite, there has definitely been a downfall in the level of service from what one would expect the Ivy to produce.

Afternoon Tea is INCREDIBLY poor value! Upon entry imagine my dismay to find a table of scruffy fellows opposite, who looked like they'd just come from the gym, in hoodies no less! I understood there was a dress code here? Felt very OTT in my shoes and shirt, shouldn't have bothered! We waited a while before being asked what we wanted to drink, perhaps the champaign that comes with set menu? Girl was new though and very nice. The food presents well but was phenomenally underwhelming; the dry egg fingers were grim, only ate as I was starving. Tasteless egg on dry bread, who thought this was a good idea? The other rolls tasted like from Waitrose, nice but hardly worth £90 for two people! The creme brulee was cold and average. Weird choice to have a cup cake with heavy frosting, I'd expect to pay £3 for this in a bakery, really not fine dining experience. The scones were average, nothing compared to local tea shop, super stingy on the jam, one measly spoon for two people! Didn't even taste great quality jam. The other puddings were very sweet and forgettable. Tea came after the food which was clearly odd and was two teabags!! in a pot for two, so was piss weak! Unbelievable not to have loose leaf for this price and then cheap out on the bags! The champaign wasn't great nor were the cocktails we had after, tries to be clever but fails. Amazingly poor value, be warned!

Despite high expectations, we found The Ivy to be an overrated and overpriced restaurant, with an average dining experience. The interior is beautiful, we loved the design. It was really busy and loud, so not ideal for a romantic date however we enjoyed the atmosphere. Our waiter was really friendly and professional. For starters, we ordered the Truffle Arancini and Scallops with polenta. Both were tasty and well presented, portion size was okay but not too filling (which is what you want in a starter), would give each a 9/10. For mains, we ordered the Ivy Hamburger and the Wild Mushroom and Truffle Linguine. The burger buns were burnt and cold, the patty was flavourless and overcooked. The “assemble yourself” idea was a nice touch but unnecessary. Would give it a 5/10 as the chips were nice. The pasta was swimming in olive oil, it left a huge puddle on the bottom of the bowl. Otherwise nothing spectacular, the truffle flavour came through nicely however the oil was so overwhelming that the dish was not enjoyable. 3/10. For drinks we got the Virgin Bellinis, which were delightful. It’s a shame we didn’t have a great experience as we’ve heard great things about the place. We’d give it 3* based on the interior, great service and nice starters.
