A very disappointing experience. We ordered the most expensive fish, chips and peas I’ve ever consumed (£15.95) in a cafe expecting it to be something special judging by the description. The peas were described as ‘minted, crushed garden peas’. The fish as fresh Scottish haddock coated in their own ‘gin and tonic batter’, chunky chips and homemade tartare sauce. When the meal arrived it looked very underwhelming. The peas were not as described…it was just a portion of frozen peas. When I pointed out to the waitress that these were supposed to be ‘crushed and minted’ she apologised and went back to speak to the chef. She came back with the message that ‘some of their delivery didn’t come’…it wasn’t worth arguing!! I suppose I would have been within my rights to refuse the meal and therefore it would have been wasted, but I don’t like to be awkward. In case the owners read this review…can you please make sure that you instruct your staff to point out when the order is taken that some things are not available. The chips were clearly frozen chunky chips…actually quite tasteless and definitely not cooked long enough…I couldn’t tell whether they’d been baked or deep fried. The batter around the fish was not unpleasant but where the gin and tonic bit comes in I’m not sure. The fish within the batter was fresh and cooked well…but what I would describe as a child’s portion…very small. ‘Homemade’ tartare sauce…I didn’t get that impression at all but my Snowden lager was good. The staff were pleasant. I wouldn’t go again…but I presume they are relying on passing holiday trade so my presence won’t be missed. Sorry to be so negative but the very fact that I’ve gone to the trouble to submit this review must say something to the owners. Personally…if I owned an establishment where a complaint had been made I would, at the very least, offer some sort of recompense…a small reduction or ‘drinks on the house’. Nothing...

I ordered a tuna sandwich with red onion and mayo. When it arrived the bread was very dry on the outside. The waitress apologised and replaced it. It was just a sandwich I know but presented simply cut in half with a very dry accompanying salad with no dressing. The sandwich tasted ok, the coleslaw was OK but the salad was like eating paper. I would have accepted it as it was but when I'm paying £9.75p for it I expect some care to be taken both in presentation and quality. I ordered a bowl of chips (fries). They were OK but at a price of £5.25 for a small bowl I think is extortionate. The cappuccino was nice but was in a cup almost as small as an expresso and that cost £4. My partner ordered a BLT which also cost £9.75p. The bread was not toasted as is the norm for a BLT. The bacon was just thrown on, the tomato was minimal to say the least (1 small slice) and a bit of limp lettuce and no mayo. This sandwich also appeared to have simply been thrown together with minimal thought about presentation. For that price we expect much better. The side salad ( £5.50p) actually tasted good but the small quantity was not worth that amount of money. A pint of diet coke was £3.95p. The total cost of a disappointing lunch was £38.20. I try to be as objective as possible in my reviews and I'm more than happy to give a positive review if deserved. Overall, for the prices charged, the lack of any professional presentation, the small portion sizes and the poor quality of some of the ingredients I feel justified in writing this review and hope it helps the reader make an informed decision when...
Read moreShocking Experience with this restaurant. Decided to pop in for breakfast on a monday morning - the restaurant had been a part of the Gov scheme eat out to help out, we dined, food was cold, didnt recieve what we ordered, went to pay, questioned price due to the scheme, got told they werent taking part, only in the evenings. £40 for a stone cold breakfast which we didnt fully recieved was very pricey but paid anyway feeling like it was partly my own fault for "not checking" even though I had already checked. Later that afternoon the restaurant posted on social media that they were doing the scheme as gov stated, I questioned this, got told I was due a refund. Took 3 days, plus 3 promised phone calls which I didnt receive (I had to contact them everytime, to the point I was becoming aggravated). Eventually went through the refund system on Friday, for them to take the amount they were supposed to be refunding out of my account again. So instead of being £20 down, I am now £40 down....awaiting the refund again....have been in contact with my bank and if they have done me out of this money the bank will be in contact 😊. Put a right downer on our holiday! So thank you very much. The worst part is we dined at a sister restaurant (without realising) and it was absolutely amazing there with no issues at all! Just a little pointer, might be worth you training your staff alongside your sister...
