Extremely disappointing experience today considering how we used to love the ice cream here. Visited today for the first time in a year or two. How disappointing! Firstly, at a time when Covid cases are at an all time high on the island, there is no attempt at getting people to keep their distance inside the shop, and a large group were jostling over our shoulders to see what flavours were available while we were waiting to be served. We both got really twitchy. We ordered a Creme Egg cone and an Apple Strudel cone. Both of us thought they had no flavour at all and just tasted of vanilla. For £6.60. Not as much ice cream in the cone either. The server made no attempt at ensuring any of the flavour bits were in either cornet. We may as well not have bothered, this was nothing like how it used to be. And here's an idea, why not put all the flavours on a board at the door every day so that customers can choose before they get to the counter, instead of everyone breathing down everyone else's necks, jostling to see the flavours in the cabinet?! Simple and so useful!! Not that we'll be coming again for a while as we prefer some flavour in our ice creams. Sorry, a real disappointment, after our 5 star review...
Read moreLovely ice cream and we've been here a few times. However, I went last night when it was under an hour before closing, so not many flavours were left to choose from. The girl offered a free scoop to anyone who wanted it of one flavour to empty the one tub. I said I'd happily accept and explained I wanted 2 more scoops as had wanted 3 in total. I was then served by the lad and I asked if I could have something with a lid for my 3 scoops so I could take it in the car. He said that he could use a litre tub. When he put the 3 scoops in I asked if I'd still get that one free scoop that I'd been offered and was told no...I was then charged £10 for a litre tub instead of 3 scoops! I should have been charged for 2 scoops! I didn't want to make a scene there and just won't go back again, because I thought...
Read moreFantastic ice-cream and sorbet options. I was so pleased to see that they are even offering dairy-free alternatives. Usually I have to go for the sorbets for this reason but they are always fruit flavoured. At my visit to Red Boat, they had 3 dairy-free flavours to choose from. Having a soy allergy also, I enquired if the dairy-free options were made from a soy or coconut base and the server gladly checked. Of the two I enquired about, one was soy and one was coconut so I was able to go for the dairy-free, coconut based raspberry ripple and it was delicious. The rest of my family enjoyed equally as delicious dairy...
