We were really excited to visit 1000 trades as we’ve read plenty of good reviews. On arrival there was no one to receive us and take us to a table. There was only one staff member behind the bar who advised we could just find a seat and order at the bar. We placed our order and found a table. The table was a little dirty and sticky, no salt and pepper on table. Our order arrived relatively quick, however no one came to check how the food was and we had to try and flag someone down as one of our orders was incorrect. The menu is also misleading, it says all large dishes are served with couscous on the side but that was not received. The staff member told us it only came with the rice or chips that are on the plate (so why does the menu say all plates come with couscous?! We were expecting this as an extra). The Zatar chicken was very tasty and crispy, and the chips were also good. The lamb koftas were very tasteless. The salad did not have any dressing. And the amount of bread provided with the dips too small for 3 dips and 2 people. Overall this experience left us disappointed and unlikely to return as the prices here are not cheap and the staff did not seem to care about customers.

Another good reason to visit the jewellery quarter, the bar is based in an old badge factory and theres a sack cloth coverage by the stairs covered in badges. The guys serve up a good selection of craft beers some exclusive to the pub. You need to book a table to enjoy their cuisine which is definitely worth doing. I revisited with my son so that he could purchase some mead, this is no longer possible as that franchise has relocated to the Great Western Arcade near to Snow Hill Railway station. The ambience is still good and fellow patrons said that the food is still excellent.

I've never seen a more obvious case of a place desperately trying to be up market and trendy and failing spectacularly ! Yet obviously believing they are one of the in places to be the drinks prices are totally ridiculous 😣 Prime example being some drinks we had being porn star martini £10 each. Now it's not to say we have never paid £10 for porn star martini elsewhere because we have, but we certainly havent paid that while looking through grubby windows at a load of scaffolding and roofing work on shabby derelict buildings opposite ! Added to that whilst looking at the total mess opposite we were sat in a room I can only gather was an attempt at some kind of shabby sheek loft apartment with plaster and paint falling off the walls and cheap nasty furniture, which is all well and good had we have been paying £5 for the above drinks whilst sat in there. Also the porn star wasn't as big as many we have had before and the fancy presentation was none existent ! To add insult to injury having looked at their drinks menu and only seeing 2 gins on their menu a couple of us went down stairs to get a fancy gin from another bar downstairs which we assumed was all part of the same company as they were in the same building. However when going back up stairs to our partners we were told we shouldn't be bringing our drinks in from downstairs even though there was absolutely "no obvious signage at all" telling customers the two places were seperate and nothing to do with each other. We were then told by one of the staff in 1000 trades that they have a large selection of gins themselves anyway so there was no need to have gone downstairs. However as they only had 2 gins on their drinks list I'm assuming we were supposed to clairvoyant to have guessed that ! Having browsed at various other drinks prices on their drinks menu they were also just ridiculous and prices I'd more likely be expecting to pay in central London or at very least in an up market trendy wine bar somewhere. This place is just trying to be something they are not and trying to run before they walk and should not be charging top rate money for low rate surroundings and barely average service. Would not recommend to anyone at all unless you just have more money than sense and can't be bothered to walk to much better bars just...

This place is ABSOLUTELY FREEZING! Went yesterday on a really cold day and there was no heating! Worst place I’ve been to in a long time, I know there’s a cost of living crisis but this is totally unacceptable for customers! I was so uncomfortable, this is the worst pub I’ve been to comfort wise I did not enjoy my time here and don’t recommend it in winter especially to those who have any medical conditions that the cold may exacerbate. What’s worse is that I went upstairs to see the play and it was even colder! People were sitting in their coats, I had to put my gloves back on and my legs were shaking from the cold. The play itself was great but I did feel even worse for the poor actors who had far less clothes on than me. Again this was totally abysmal and unacceptable. Food service was SO SLOW I waited 30 plus minutes for burger and chips and wish I’d gone somewhere else before the play. Food wasn’t even piping hot after such a long wait. I was so cold that I got a cappuccino (tiny portion) and then wasn’t even provided with sugar that I had to ask for. Customer service is so poor especially for the prices. Tables are way too close to each other too so people and even their own waiters struggle to get past. Interior decor is cheap and devoid of character. Getting staff attention to ask about an order is virtually impossible. I won’t...
