Welcome to Birmingham Black Sheep Coffee.
Back in the office days in London, Black Sheep Coffee was my local. The chain crafted coffee to a high standard. Back then, 2016, I ordered a flat white with oat milk. It was worth the walk. Black Sheep has placed its hooves just outside the mailbox close to an abundance of restaurants. It was easy to find. What I noticed immediately was the sign out front that mentioned "double the caffeine". What does that even mean? I walked inside to find out. There is cool vibe to the interior of Black Sheep Coffee. With all the metal and large light fixtures, it feels industrial. I loved the neon lighting, something that I associate with the coffee chain 200 degrees. The Nintendo Entertainment System super mario brothers art work made me smile. There are shelves dedicated to a multitude of coffee beans roasted at central office. When I came to order I asked about "double the caffeine". The barista explained. If you try, for example, a small size flatwhite, it is made with 2 espresso shots. A medium, 3 espresso shots and a large has 4! I thought to myself, I've never had 4 shots before. Well, honestly, I've have more, a drink in London named a "Great White". It had 5 espresso shots!! I ordered a small and a large flat white. I tried both. They weren't a taste sensation, but they were created with care. The flat white was easily the better drink. The staff were warm and friendly. The counter had a cool array of coffee toys to make the perfect drink. May you find your piece of perfection. I'm just pleased that Birmingham can attract big names like Black Sheep Coffee to its city centre. The more the merrier. Talking of more, there are now a lot of cafes in and around the mailbox. Elio Cafe is a short walk away, arguably more coffee focussed, being an independent. Same too, Cacao. Medicine Bar has an amazing array of baked goods and brunch items to complement the coffee. If you still fancy a Starbucks, located at the front of the Mailbox stop, think, don't. I'd recommend supporting our independents artisans first, British chains, like Black Sheep Coffee, later. Everything about independent coffee shop, service quality comfort, puts big chains like Costa and Starbucks firmly...
Read moreJust left after ordering a small Americano for my partner and Mocha for myself. Both were terrible! We ordered our drinks to takeaway, and once outside, my partner tried his before I tried my drink. He asked me to taste it. It was hot water with milk- gross. He went back into the shop and told the barista that he wasn't happy and she told him that it was one shot of coffee and if he wanted to add another, he would have to pay for it. It was at this time I tasted mine, and there was absolutely zero coffee in it. We then asked to speak to a manager, to which she then said that she would just remake the drink. The whole time she was rude! As she was remaking the drink, some guy came out of the back and she was pointing and laughing at us. Once we received the second drink, my partner tasted it and it was the same. It was like the hot water was strained through old grounds that had no flavour left or something. Absolutely disgusting, I recommend anyone in the area to go somewhere else for your caffeine needs, as this place definitely isn't it 😡 Both of us binned our drinks outside and the went to Medicine in the Mailbox for coffee instead. The coffee at Medicine was...
Read moreI have reached my absolute limit with black sheep. I have on a number of occasions been overcharged / not have my points scanned by Black Sheep because their staff don’t even know that there are discounts / points scheme or how to apply them. When that happens, they’ll ask you to contact the company . The company doesn’t provide any help because only a certain department deals with that. After emailing said department, they don’t bother replying. On my most recent trip, the same thing happened and I’m still waiting for some help for the last 17 days. This is extremely poor from black sheep to make customers chase you like this after overcharging them This has happened so many times because the staff are clueless about applying student discounts or how the points system works . Why have a point system / student scheme if your staff doesn’t even know they exist or how it works ??
Please improve your service. Mistakes happen but it can’t be that most of your staff don’t even know about the points system or students discount and how it operates. Further, at least bother replying to...
