We found Cheddar Stirchley on Google maps whilst getting a bit peckish sat in a nearby bar. I couldn't believe my luck that there was a cheese bar no more than 60 seconds walk away.
Me and my partner were fortunate enough to get a walk in seat by the window around 4:30pm on a Saturday; this place started to fill up from 5pm so booking on an evening is recommended.
We were greeted with a warm welcome and took our seats. It's a small intimate bar with around 8 tables, and a small menu consisting of a choice of classic British, French, or vegan cheese, each with the option of individual (3 cheeses) or sharers (5 cheeses). Serves with crackers, quince, chutney, capers and grapes.
We were also offered a mixed sharer board which we opted for, along with a Japanese lager and a glass of Rioja.
The lager was decent, and the Rioja was great. The cheese arrived a few minutes later, all freshly prepared to order, with little flags with the cheese names.
All of the cheeses were high quality and interesting, putting most standard after dinner cheese boards to shame.
We really enjoyed our short trip to Cheddar Stirchley and would recommend this to anyone who enjoys...
Read moreCheddar is absolutely fabulous! We were a mid week early evening walk in and got a table fine without booking which felt like a treat. They had really gorgeous lighting in there and a really great variety of cheeses (I shared the 3x French cheeses platter with a friend and it was really tasty) and the lovely lady behind the bar had an excellent knowledge of wine. Excellent price point for a really chilled out hang out space and brilliant all round experience. Cheddar gets a 10/10 from me and I will absolutely be...

She really made us feel welcome and anything we asked was not a bother for her. We would love her to be there more often. Unfortunately we haven’t been back since Davina left. Maybe one day. We still love cheese and...
