Nestled in the Jewelry Quarter, where finding a halal spot can feel like finding a needle in a haystack, Decorum Restaurant shines like a hidden treasure. With our group, it was an exceptional dining adventure, with every detail carefully curated for maximum enjoyment. Stepping inside, we were immediately struck by the modern yet cozy ambiance, setting the perfect scene for a memorable meal. We kicked things off with the mouthwatering lamb cutlets and prawns, each dish bursting with flavor and leaving us wanting more. But the real star of the show was the Decorum Signature steak. A Juicy, tender, and packed with flavour sirloin steak, it was everything we hoped for and more. The peppercorn sauce is a must to accompany the dish as it added the perfect kick to an already amazing dish. Washing it all down with refreshing lychee mocktails was the cherry on top of an already amazing experience. And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, out came the dessert platter. From molten chocolate cake paired with vanilla ice cream to a variety of cheesecakes, each bite was a decadent delight, with flavors competing to be the favorite. To top it all off, we had the pleasure of meeting the head chef, who shared his extensive experience working in high-rated hotels in Dubai, and a couple of the owners, who were incredibly friendly and added a personal touch to our dining experience. In a neighborhood where halal options are scarce, Decorum Restaurant stands out as a true gem, offering top-notch cuisine, friendly service, and a vibe that’s as welcoming as it is trendy.

We were visiting Birmingham for a one night trip and came across this restaurant whilst looking for restaurants near our hotel. The look and base reviews were quite good, even though we did hear a lot of people say that food quality was not up-to standard. On arrival we luckily found parking in the restaurant parking, on entering the restaurant we were very impressed by the atmosphere and greeting by staff. We didn’t have a booking so they made effort to find us a seat, we had to wait about 15 minutes but it was fine as they have a splendid waiting area. The other thing that really made it enjoyable was the lady playing the Violin 🎻 (Magdalena Olszewska)she was magical and could play anything you can imagine. The waiting staff were very courteous and responsive. The dishes we ordered were the Sea-bass and also the Chicken Parmesan for mains and for starters we tried the BBQ chicken and Chicken Bao Buns. Unfortunately we were unimpressed with all the food. The flavours were just not right, the Chicken Parmesan was a huge portion, but tasted nothing like what you expect a cheesy Chicken Parmesan to be like. A small portion but more effort on flavours could make this place absolutely amazing. We wouldn’t really go back again unless no option. People go to restaurants for food and if that key thing is not good then the rest leave little for a reason to go again. They have a customer base for atmosphere I believe but it could be so much more greater potentially.

Despite having a reservation we were seated in a very secluded area and had to wait to be seated. We ordered some drinks and appetisers they took about 20 mins to come. The ‘coke’ i ordered was some off brand coke and tasted absolutely awful. The mocktails were alright but overpriced at £9. The mac and cheese was the worst thing ive tasted in my life and tasted like it was cooked with flour and had NO cheese in it; and the halloumi was salty and chewy. Like how do you mess up halloumi?!!! We then waited for an hour for food to arrive, as we got up to the leave and pay the waiter told us the food was there and ‘eaten’ despite us getting up. We went back as we were hungry and fasting so we decided to stay. I had ordered a chicken fillet with chips. Ive never tasted anything so sour and spicy in my life. The flavours made no sense and was just overly seasoned. The side came with chips and arugula. Arugula!!! The chips was underdone and bland. Like OMG. Even my 3 year old neice can make better fries. Needless to say we were over it. My mate ordered lamp chops and mash. She ordered it medium and came well done and was also chewy and grim. The mash potatoes was 100% instant mash from the packet bought from Aldi. I will never believe it was freshly made even if they made it in-front of me it was that bad. Im not usually a leave a review kind of person but i need to do this as a PSA because ive never been so traumatised by food. We ended up paying £90 for that disgusting experience. Overpriced and horrid food and the service was just downright awful. Im sure they are nice people but they need to stay away from the kitchen. Im thinking chef gets his recipes from Tiktok. If your into nice decor by all means come. But leave as soon as you have a peak because the food may kill you or leave you with a new strand of ecoli

All style and no substance - this has to be one of the worst steak houses I have tried. It’s evidently a beautiful place, but that’s the only positive I have. I booked a reservation for half 8, yet had to wait half an hour to be seated, it would have been longer had my husband not mentioned that we were next to be seated, it seems no system was in place for the reservations tonight. Once seated, drinks took 30 mins to arrive, after this, it all went downhill and ruined my husbands birthday meal out. We waited over 2 hours for our food. The lamb tenders were basically two lamb chops that arrived cold and was burnt. The honey chicken wings had a nice sauce to it, but arrived burnt which ruined the taste. We then waited 1 hour for the mains, however the food was not worth the wait and I wished I walked out after the first hour. The steak apparently comes with season veg according to the menu, instead it came with 6 green beans which came frozen out of the packet and one cherry tomato which is very misleading and not worth the price for steak and some pepper corn sauce. The chicken fillet was dry and was inedible, my husband ate one piece and had to leave the rest. The mash was greasy and you can see all the butter on the top. Honestly what a terrible experience, not worth the poor waiting times, I would much rather go to the Palm in Coventry which is hands down much better than this place. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience was so poor, ruined my husbands birthday evening that I had to write this review. We paid full price, but will never return again.

I was excited to try this venue after reading the reviews here. I'd not heard of it, but my son has seen it on social media and as it's his Birthday I let him chose where he wanted to go. On arrival (mid week) we were asked to sit in the waiting area for our table but before our bums could touch the seat we were swiftly taken to our table. First impressions were good! Waiter came swiftly to take our order ( I think 9.00 for a mocktail is somewhat pricey). Now here's where I have an issue with the menu.... I've been to lots of places where the sides are extra but over 30.00 for a steak without so much as a mushroom or tomato on the side is stingy in my opinion. So to add another 6.00 on for fries is not great. It's not like the steak filled the plate....The prices are on par with Pasture (Colmore Row) but without the attention to detail and level of service that Pasture or M&C have. I had the lamb shank, the mash and gravy were to die for but the meat itself had not been cooked for long enough or slow enough and it was chewy and fatty, again some roasted carrots and green beans would have made the dish much more appealing. Nobody came to ask how our food was whilst we were eating so I could not address the issue with the lamb. I'd put on the reservation that it was my son's birthday but there was no mention of this and when I asked for the bill I could not pay at the table and had to queue at the bar (not sure if their reasoning behind this). In summary, style over substance and we will not be returning, which is a shame.

Atmosphere: Can’t fault the decor, restaurant is stunning and very clean. The onsite parking is very helpful. Service: Staff were very friendly and chatty. Received a warm welcome from door man. Advised to proceed to waiting area for all of 3 seconds, should’ve just been shown to table, made no sense. The maitre d, just walked around, was quite friendly and chatty but forgot to return and take mains order. Mains order wasn’t taken until starters were finished. Food: Menu is very limited, steaks don’t come with sides and at these prices some background on breed, days aged & weights of steaks is required. Calamari starter was very nice, however lemon slice served no purpose. There is a lack of vegetables and salads in the menu. We opted for the chicken Parmesan, which was nice, but the enormous portion of chips was too much, could’ve done with a salad garnish, sometimes less is more. Salmon was delicious and presented well, but mash was quite watery & tasted like margarine was used instead of butter. Drinks: immediately offered still or sparkling, tap water should be offered. Opted for still. Had two cocktails which were nice, but pina colada wasn’t chilled, extra order of ice sorted that. More thought needs to be given to menu development. And the amount of 5* reviews from reviewers with one 1 or 2 reviews behind their belt is questionable. Probably wouldn’t go back, had much nicer meals in similar stylish surroundings for less.
