THE BEST PLACE TO EAT IN THE CITY CENTRE WITHOUT A DOUBT. We discovered Makan yesterday by pure luck. After a rather tiring morning their lamb shawarma was such a treat! We're looking forward to try more of their food. For now, whenever we eat out, it will definitely be at makan. Keep it up guys! Do not compromise on your quality. Please! ☺️ UPDATE (after 4 weeks of the first one): My family has started a tradition of eating here every weekend. The quality is still great, the taste is still fantastic. Garlic sauce brought back all the memories of Middle Eastern food although I would say that the broasted chicken wasn't spicy...as it used to be in Middle East. But still, awesome food. We love eating at Makan and wish you people all the best. We three will be coming for more. 😊 Everything is perfect. Stay that way. UPDATE AFTER MORE THAN TWO MONTHS: I'm sorry. The quality has decreased so much that we couldn't go again. It started with a swap of pickled jalapenos with chilli peppers but went on to a total disaster. So I take my words and one star back. It is a good place to eat but not the fantastic place we wanted to eat at every weekend...just two months back.

UPDATE AFTER ABOUT A YEAR: My family left Birmingham last week and one our way to railway station, we chose to eat one last time at Makan. You took my feedback as a customer seriously. Thank you for that. I hope you strive for even higher standards in future and prosper. Everytime we get a chance to visit Birmingham, a meal at your place will be a constant for us. Best of luck! Also, your service has improved a lot. Food is almost the same as it used to be. Tasty. I am returning the one star I had taken away...

I would not recommend this place to anyone. Went in with friends at lunch time and ordered a kids falafal box (presuming its falafals with rice or fries). This cost me the same price as an adult meal there. The order came out and it was a falafel wrap. I went to ask why I was given a wrap and the a man who spoke broken English kept saying you ordered a kids falafel box! I said yes but it doesnt state up on your board that its a wrap and I never eat wraps can you swap it for falafals as shown in that picture on your board for the adult meal? He said no, I said ok can I get a refund? He said no then tried ignoring me. I stayed there and asked for the Manager who was not available. He called over the girl who served me and asked her if I knew a wrap had been ordered making out I lied! She admitted she did not know it was a wrap meal either so then after about 15 mins or so I got a refund with no apology and an awful attitute. Molly the checkout girl was clueless as to what food was on their menu but she looked helpless I felt sorry for her working there. Whoever the manager is you need to sort out your staff to gain customer service skills in fact you would probably get more customers! My friends and I work close by and we will be telling everyone about our terrible experience there so noone will be making a mistake of going...

Was our first time there. Recommended by a friend. Went there with family and ordered chicken shawarma arabi meal, chicken shawarma extra meal, 6 pieces fried chicken and hummus. Over all good experience. My wife liked the Arabi chicken warp with garlic sauce. I didn't personally enjoy my chicken shawarma extra as the spices there were not the best I ever tried. The portions are good. The fried chicken was very poor on multiple levels. These were fried on old frying oil that has been exhausted from recycling! The spices and flavour of the outer coat was less than average. The 6 pieces I had included 2 wings, one drumstick, one thigh and 2 breasts for £11. I never expected 30% of our pieces to be wings (£3.6), and thought that was not really a customer-oriented approach. The fries were standard. The hummus was poor and we couldn't eat. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place looked clean but not glamorous. The prices were average apart from the fried chicken which we felt was a bit overpriced. Overall I can only recommend chicken shawarma ( if any). Over all rating...
