🇬🇧 Birmingham | A Great Spot for Japanese Sushi and Sashimi Cravings

Came here today 04/01/2025 for my birthday lunch with my husband and two children. One is aged 3 and the other is 13. We arrived for the opening at 12pm but I had booked for 12.30pm and they were able to accommodate us no problem. Our waitress (Ruby) was the loveliest! Really brightened up my day. She was friendly, attentive and just generally a nice person. We ordered a mix of sushi including the Traditonal set which included the miso soup. Now normally I’m not keen on miso soup due to it tasting sour or stale but this soup was incredible and nothing like anything I’ve tasted before. I will now only have it from top end restaurants like this one. My husband ordered the Geisha set for my 13 year old and himself and there was plenty to around. We ordered plain rice and chicken gyoza for us and our 3 year old and he loved it! Always difficult to get him to try new things but he really enjoyed it. At the end of our meal, the Chef surprised me with a traditional Japanese ‘lemon’ esque ice cream with a candle as it was my birthday and it was delicious. A really nice touch thank you. The atmosphere was beautiful, dimmed lighting which enhanced the surroundings and the option to sit at a traditional Japanese table setting which we will take advantage of the next time. Everything was perfectly laid out, I can’t think of any detail that wasn’t already catered for. The Chef was courteous and friendly and came over a couple of times to see how we liked the food etc. Would highly recommend for any occasion and thank you to all the staff especially to Ruby so taking such good care of us.

Amazing!!!! It is the first time, I have come to try the sushi food here. While I was eating their meal, many words popped up in my mind as wonderful, so good, so fresh, amazing, etc. Food : I would say " Valuable " . I ordered the Traditional set, Hamachi nigiri and Uni or Sea urchin. The salmon, tuna, yellowtail, prawn, octopus, mackerel and eel are so fresh, thick pieces, perfectly cooked and mouthful with delicate flavour as they can present their own taste. 👍👍👍Unexpected surprise for me is Uni or Sea Urchin, they are so creamy, so sweet and so fresh. I was very happy and so surprised in the first bite. This plate I ordered twice. ( I said to sfaff on my second order that uni is my dessert 😍) I really recommend this plate.❤️ Services : Staff are very friendly and caring and I would like to say thank you to their chef, they gave a complimentary Tataki nigiri and of course they are delicious. I recommend you to sit at the bar and see the chefs are cooking while you are eating, it will be a good experience and enjoyable eating as well. ( I would like to say sorry to the chef as well that I looked at his cooking a lot 😅) To summarize, I would say there is the wonderful restaurant specialty SUSHI and sashimi ( Fish selection ) with good price, great quality and cosy service. I will come back soon 😍😍 P.S. Ginger pickles are so tasty, I love it as well 😉

AVOID. FOOD POISONING 20/09. If I could give 0 starts, I would. Most of these reviews must be fake. You go out for what’s supposed to be a nice dinner and you find this: Smelly shoes right next to the table where you’re eating. Apparently you have to take your shoes off to sit on the “traditional floor tables” but surely there’s a better and more hygienic way of keeping customer shoes than next to the table where we’re eating??? Shocking. The smell put us off. The waitress (middle aged Eastern European lady) could not have any worse manners! So rude, almost shouting at us, rushing us because she wanted to finish her shift, asking for our food order a minute after seating down. You’d think she was making us a favour by taking our money. The food is not tasty at all; all super low quality produce. Fish is not fresh. Nothing authentic about this place. For the money they charge (over £100 for 2) food should at the very least be decent. UPDATE: 2h later we have found ourselves with food poisoning, most probably from raw fish not being handled properly. The AC was at full blow. The whole place must of been 15 degrees with air coming straight into your eyes. Everyone was eating with their jackets on! We couldn’t wait to get out and now our stomachs...
