Rio Piri Piri on Aston Street has been nothing short of a home away from home for me during my Master’s at Aston University. I’ve lost count of the number of nights I’ve spent here—sometimes after long study sessions, other times just to unwind and treat myself. And trust me, this place never disappoints.

Open till 4 AM, it’s an absolute gem for night owls like me. When everything else around is closed or quiet, Rio Piri Piri is still buzzing, still serving up delicious food with comforting familiarity.

Ask for Mia when you go—he’s the heart of the place. He’s looked after me every single time with genuine kindness and care. The staff overall are brilliant, but Mia makes every visit feel personal. It’s rare to find that kind of consistency and warmth.

And the food? Incredible. For me, it’s a nostalgic taste of India—flavours that remind me of home, served hot and fresh no matter the hour. It’s my favourite place to eat in the UK, hands down.

Just as good as Nando’s but much better value. Delicious flavours and excellent crispy chips. My only complaints are that eating chicken with a bendy plastic spoon isn’t easy and more importantly based on the clientele I’m assuming the meat was halal - which I don’t agree with - it’s very cruel if the animal isn’t stunned first and anyone who disagrees is deluded. This is 2019 not 1919 time to change and embrace enlightenment. In response to your reply I completely agree with your response. I just think there should be a forward thinking approach to religious rituals. Stun the animal first then carry on as usual. Scientific advances shouldn’t be ignored when they are developing more humane approaches to animals and as you know we Brits hold animal welfare to high esteem and have on the whole some of the best standards in the world.
