Shaks Fish Bar & Peri Peri — Restaurant in Birmingham

Gourmet burger was a frozen burger (not really gourmet) and shop is a little over priced for what it is

-Update and reply below: went today with my mother, she wouldn't touch her food after one bite of the fish which was rock hard and brittle, he said he was cooking a fresh one, chips weren't cooked through either. Mushy peas were full of water and cold, after forgetting them and shouting at someone in the back to stick some in the microwave for 1 min lol. Over heard the brothers saying that not to start a just eat or takeaway orders until they show up, so no point ordering before hand as they'll have you waiting around while they rush your food. Wont be eating from here again

Reply - I've been in the shop a good few times actually and complained to you a couple times and been told by you "I know what I'm doing ive had a shop over 30 years" you and your brother are both younger than me and I've also owned myself chip shops for over 10 years in the past. The food is described in such a colourful way that you would assume it's some of the best you will ever have.

Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations, especially when you factor in the price of how much you are paying.

The chips were average, and order notes for salt and vinegar were not followed unfortunately.

The beef burger was well over cooked with the patty being quite thin, took a very char grilled flavour overpowering the burger.

The kebab was fresh and the meat was of good quality, but the flavours of the Sizzler Kebab were quite bland given the colourful description of how amazing it should be. It was just a few added cooked onions and peppers.

Overall disappointed, but not the worst food but certainly not the best. For the price I expected better.

EDIT. I have never rang the store and wow did not expect such an awful reply. I am glad you replied as now I will never order again. You really need to work on your customer service. You contradicted yourself saying you follow order notes when clearly you don't. This is not a way to...

As a treat I decided that I wanted something different preferably to my everyday cooking and therefore had popped into Shaks Fish Bar & Peri Peri and since it was a Friday night why not?

I had ordered a large portion of chips and donner meat with salad on the side and helpings of both chilli sauce and mayonnaise (I, however did want a mix donner meat but just asked for the donner meat so next time I will).

The food is amazing and wished I had ordered more as they are the best tasting chips and donner meat in town. The guy that served me was friendly and I didn't have to wait so long to get my food. The food on the menu are reasonably priced too and have a range of different options available.

I will definitely be returning as a customer and hopefully get a larger portion and to remember to ask for a mixed donner meat and lastly i would like to thank everyone working at Shaks Fish...
