Upsetting. I went there tonight to have my birthday meal, we got there at 8:30pm and were seated. We (meaning myself and my boyfriend) wanted to sit and enjoy ourselves over food, so we ordered 3 different sushi rolls, laksa, shrimp tempura, gyoza a rice dish, seaweed salad and 2 LARGE bubble teas. After ordering our food, the waiter left to take it to the kitchen. We’re thinking everything’s okay but a few minutes later he came back and said we needed to substitute a dish because it would take too long to cook and they close at 9. MIND YOU IT WAS ALREADY 20 MINS TO 9 AT THIS POINT AND WE HAD ALREADY ORDERED. We changed the dish, but I thought, ā€œsurely they’ll let us eat finish our food and not make us leaveā€. NOPE! We had to pack our food in take away boxes AS we ate and had to PAY AS we ate. We were literally interrupted through our meal to do this.

When 9pm hit the staff opened the door and stood outside waiting for us to leave. Literally were holding the door open while looking at us out the window. As we were walking out they apologised but really this was ridiculous. How on earth could they not inform us that they were closing before we sat down? I we had to pack half the meal up to take away and I even had to leave behind some as I couldn’t stuff it down fast enough. The staff were polite and the food was delicious but this was a real let down.

Coincidentally I can see that they’ve done this before from a past comment! A very unpleasant experience and honestly a shame. A real damper on...

Went for take away on a Wednesday evening. Place was busy and had a quirky vibe with sticky note messages over the walls. I eat sushi a lot so expect it to be made to order and take a little while but....I ordered a mixed sashimi and was warned it takes time to make. I then ordered an eel dragon roll. The server literally sighed at me and rolled her eyes say 'this also takes a long time to make' I said it was OK as these were the dishes we wanted. 40 minutes later! She did apologise and said they were short staffed but this still seemed extreme - at least offer a glass of water or a tea if customers are waiting that long. The food itself was delicious. The dragon roll came with cucumber which wasn't in the item description the menu and I picked it out (hate cucumber) but the rice was perfect, the tempura crispy (despite sweaty takeaway box) and the roasted eel was sweet and charred to perfection. We also had some delicious squid, delicately battered and served with japanese mayo and a sweet soy honey dressing. As a nice touch the sashimi was packed in a bag with ice to keep it cold (never had that before) and had a generous selection of salmon, tuna, seabass, prawn (cooked rather than the sweet raw shrimp) and clam. Ginger and wasabi comes in the box and soy is provided in sachets. The 3 dishes were nearly £40 For the food I would come again but I'd probably pre-order and collect rather that have to sit waiting...

If you’re in Birmingham and looking for a dining experience that tantalizes your taste buds while offering a warm and inviting atmosphere, Yakii is the place to be. Nestled in the heart of the city, Yakii has truly set the bar high for Asian cuisine with its impeccable service and mouth-watering dishes.

One standout dish that deserves a special mention is their Kung Pao Chicken. Crafted by the talented Chef Aidison, it is, without a doubt, the best I’ve ever had. The chicken is perfectly tender, with just the right amount of crispiness, coated in a sauce that balances the heat and sweetness flawlessly. Each bite bursts with flavors, thanks to the expertly blended spices and the crunch of fresh peanuts and vegetables. It’s a dish that will leave you craving more long after your plate is empty.

But Yakii is not just about the food; the staff here are equally commendable. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with genuine smiles and a welcoming demeanor. Special kudos to Neefa and Mansi, whose service is nothing short of exemplary. They are prompt and attentive, with a deep knowledge of the menu and a keen eagerness to offer recommendations. Their friendliness and professionalism enhance the overall dining experience, making you feel like a valued guest rather than just...

Interesting restaurant. Nothing is consistent and very unprofessional. We arrived just before 8 - google said they close at 8:45 although hours may be wrong but website said 10. No one said anything when we sat down and ordered starters at 8:20 with plans of mains later which we told our server who agreed Sushi and boba was ok… 6/10 No consistency in service, drinks came with starters and we asked for water 3 times and had to remind them (it wasn’t busy) Ordered our mains - Laksa and Katsu soup at maybe 8:30 and received around 8:45 only to be told that they close in 15 minutes? Meaning we had to rush through our food and put it in a takeaway box as we weren’t allowed to stay to finish. Waitress came over in her coat to take payment clearly wanting us to leave. No professionalism, no communication and paid Ā£40!!! For what?! We couldn’t even finish our food! Mains were tasty but our stomachs suffered the next day so take that as you will Don’t spend your money here, there’s better places for the same if not cheaper and way better service Also a side note - I’ve never seen veggie Kimbap more than maybe Ā£6 and here it was over Ā£12 - rip off!

I cannot believe they have finally opened in Bham too!!!!! They have a branch in Coventry and I promise you both the foods are *chefs kiss* We only ordered a quick bite and drinks (teriyaki buns, udon and Passion fruit bubble tea) as we didn’t have much time. Food came quick and quality and quantity is still THE BEST. Bumped into the owners again, they were super cute! Only downside is we didn’t order the sushi to try but I have revisited their Coventry branch many times and not once disappointed so I’m really looking forward to try! They have 10% off if you leave a review so please take advantage the food and drinks are worth the review! *To add, we loved the atmosphere and decor and the infinity wall*
