Coffee was good if not a bit overpriced, ordered a peppermint tea, in its self is usually very nice. However both the glass cup we were given and the tea pot it was served in had seen better days. The teapot had a large crack on the side which could have seriously split open at anytime and the cup looked as though it had never been washed and had been dryed with sandpaper. The assistant happily exchanged both apologising for not noticing them himself. Second teapot although not cracked looked as though it could have done with a better wash. My large latte was very nice as was Sarah my wife's peppermint tea, although Sarah was disappointed she only got a cup and a half out of the pot (small cups as well). Why can't they fill the pot up or offer you a second pot of hot water. Both had a cake, chocolate brownie and a slice of Carrot with walnuts cake Sarah loved the chocolate brownie my cake was a little dry not up to its usual standard. I will put that down to the time if day which was about 5.30pm, probably it had been standing out for most of the day. I visited Coastal today and had a horrible experience, primarily due to a staff member named Adam. From the moment I interacted with him, he was incredibly rude and dismissive. I felt like I was being treated as if I didn’t belong there, all because I ordered a simple small tea and inquired about some desserts. Instead of answering my question politely, he rudely pulled out a cake, handed it to me without asking if I wanted it, and charged me for it without any clarification.
When I pointed out the mistake, he refunded the amount, but again, without any explanation or apology. It was unprofessional and made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
Additionally, the cleanliness of the place was appalling. Tables were sticky, and the floor looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in days. This kind of behavior and environment is unacceptable, and I hope management takes this feedback seriously. Adam and the entire staff should be trained on how to treat customers respectfully and maintain basic hygiene standards.
Definitely won’t be returning, and I recommend others think twice...
Read moreFirstly, I havent visited costa coffee in such a long time but used to frequent it when I worked close to one so I was rather looking forward to it. The store seems to have plummeted by leaps and bounds in the quality of the staff and intelligence.
As we walked in, a staff member was mopping up the entire mid section of the floor whilst it was full of customers, now I dont expect them to be the cream of the crop, but clearly common sense isnt so common, I also dont recall seeing a wet floor sign risking customers injury. This absolute brightspark thought it was appropriate to leave both walking points slippery as opposed to keeping atleast one side dry. Does she think everyone has the functional stability to navigate a wet floor without risking a fall? Does costa coffee not give you time after the store closes to customers to do all the cleaning up ?
