The Definitely Maybe Bar — Restaurant in Bolton

Unimpressed. This place was great when it was in the old Bergeracs in St Andrew's Court. It was very welcoming, decorated well, and a place you would happily nip into for either a daytime drink or during a night out. It was one place that was worth visiting Bolton for. Now it's moved to Nelson Square, it just feels like any other bar in Bolton Town centre. It doesn't stand out like it used to. I appreciate it's primarily a music venue, and the music is good, but that's about it. Some, not all, of the staff look totally disinterested and in no rush to serve people. I thought these guys were trying to bring some class to Bolton (I accept that's a huge challenge). In my opinion, they have taken the wrong direction with this place, and the arrival of 8 police officers stomping through the bar wasn't encouraging. Good luck. Hopefully, the bar will prove to be a success, but not for me, thanks.

Edit following the owner's comments. Low grade was a poor choice of words, although not aimed directly at the bar and not intended to cause insult. I have rephrased this and apologise for any insult caused. The rest of the review is an honest summary of my experience and my opinion. I will point out that there were a lot of people enjoying the bar who may have a different opinion. The owner's explanation about the police may be correct. However, in that case it seems heavy handed...

Wow what can I say about this place. Bolton was long over due a place like this, the staff could not do more for us. Upon arrival we ordered drinks and had full table service. Even fresh crisps were brought over to us in a nice little basket free of charge. The decoration is brilliant all about the music this venue. You just have to visit it to see what I mean. I could not stop looking at all the memorabilia. Even signed guitars. Upon going out side the venue had a large white tent out side where there was a live singer and omg it was a fantastic atmosphere for a Sunday afternoon. Singing and enjoying the range of cocktails that were on the menu. We went as a party of 5 and will definitely be returning. This is good bar that could be great. However, today my husband and me arrived and sat at a table and ordered drinks. This is our third visit this week. As usual, the owner told us that he would send someone to take our drinks order. He could have done this himself but didn't . Halfway through our drinks the owner comes and puts a reserved notice on our table which basically gives us 3 quarters of an hour to move. We spoke to him and said this wasn't very customer friendly but he was unable to offer an alternative solution. So we walked. N won't be walking back. Shame. More maybe...
