We have been here pretty much the same day / time for the past few years and I have always thought it has been average - I’ve had better takeaways. Our most recent visit on 15/12/19 though changed my view of it being a 3* to being a 2*. We ordered our food and the first dish that came out was the Honey Ribs - although we didn’t ask for them to be spilt off the plate all on to the table. Anyway after that mishap we thought the rest of the meal would go smoothly. However as our mains were being bought out one of the waiters reached over to put a plate down and knocked one of the many glasses (unfortunately one full for coke) all down my lap. This could have been avoided had the staff being taking away the empty glasses instead we had multiple empty glasses all over the table which didn’t allow for much space. The waiter then gave me some napkins and tried to help pat the area before I told him I could manage, they did eventually (when we asked them to) take my meal off the bill as I was completely covered in coke and my trousers were soaking wet to the point I had to go up to the toilet and dry them under the hand dryer. I did think after that it couldn’t get any worse but then it came to pudding time... where they had ran out of cheesecake & ice cream, only one of our two tables were offered brownie as a dessert option whereas the other table wasn’t told. Some of the desserts also came out wrong which was frustrating. Overall I was really disappointed with the standard of service and food and I don’t think I will want to return there again...
Read moreThe restaurant uses golden cutleries so it’s presentable and nice place to meet up with friends and families. The customer service is quite good. The layout of the restaurant is very narrow and separated into different rooms so difficult to see waiters and get their attentions. The food is very average and the menu choice is typical Chinese takeaway food. This is really obvious for Chinese people. In particular we ordered sizzling beef steak. In China all the sizzling dish we have are definitely beef strips not steaks so I had a blank moment and skipped the word steak on the menu and assumed the same. The dish was sizzling hot but the steak was so over cooked and hard to chew. You can’t possibly cook tender beef if you cut it so thick and cook it well done. The menu choice itself is wrong to start with. The special chow main and park Choi we had were smothered in soy sauce with no other flavour which is typical way how it’s cooked in takeaway food. The two king prawn dishes we had are the best of all but nothing special. The good reviews for this restaurant are clearly mostly rated by the British as this is merely a posh takeaway restaurant serving westernised Chinese food which falls below standard of a restaurant I expect. For that reason regrettably I...
Read moreThey serve a misleading menu. The steam meat buns are meant to be 'buns' -they came as dumplings. Did ask kindly that they describe the difference between a dumpling and a bun. They were wrong. They do not understand there own provincial food - or even the difference in pastries and dishes on their menu. They also lie about this to you and serve you the wrong sauces to complement the misleading dish. Yes there is a difference between mainland China and Hong Kong in foods - but you don't use this as an excuse to serve/sell wrong items.
They give you pork sweet and sour when you ordered prawn sweet and sour.
The lemon chicken - clearly lemon curd thinned with water pour over thin fried chicken.
Service is silly but friendly. Manager is terrible at preventing or curing and problems but friendly. And I think they struggle here with staff front and back of house cause you can see it during your visit.
Would not recommend it and I understand I had a bad evening there. But it was silly of them to mislead they're customers and lie about it. Just tell the truth. People will come cause the beef with black bean and sweet and sour dishes were great - just not big enough.
Peking duck pancakes - meat...
