There has been a trend recently of upscale chophouses turning their attention to that most British of meals, and since I was searching online for a short notice booking for a Sunday roast and they had availability, I thought I would try here based on previous reviews. The dining room is prominently located on one of the corners of Queen Square. The interior feels quite atmospheric and there was a lovely ambience about it. Service was superb, very attentive - it was good to see a restaurant with a generous amount of well trained staff, with an eye for detail. There is an extensive drinks menu with lots of choices for the wine connoisseur, as well a very good range of cocktails and spirits. It was a hot day, so - although I would have loved to have tried their combined meat dish “The Cure” - I kept myself to the Pancetta, served with all the trimmings you would expect for a price point which is a good 4-5 pound above standard pub prices. However, this is a genuine case of getting what you pay for - the meat was superb, fresh, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection, as were the vegetables and roast potatoes which had just the right level of crispness. The Yorkshire was also perfect for my tastes, as it was quite soft and fluffy. Gravy was of a good consistency and quantity, no extra was required. The plate looked amazing (see photo) and tasted even better - it was well seasoned, I loved the hint of chilli the meat was cooked with, and the accompanying apple sauce was of commensurate quality to the dish. I also enjoyed the burnt Basque cheesecake from the dessert menu, which was light, fruity and the perfect digestif. All in all, considering the quality of produce used, cooked to perfection, with great service in a lovely venue and location, this was taking a Sunday Roast to another level.

Right fellow steak lovers, if you are close to this place, go! Try it out! Honestly the best steak and pork dining experience I personally have had. It has set the standard moving forward in service and taste bud delight. Our group was lucky, we did not book and they managed to accommodate us this time. They were a good level of busy, we found out why very quickly. My advice would be to book to avoid disappointment. That said, you did not get any sense of rush or fullness, only calm and welcoming, all staff were brilliant. The staff, brilliant, I cannot fault the host or any of the service, what a host they were, very well done - knowledgeable, calm, attentive and very helpful navigating their amazing menu. We opted for the shared starters and shared steak main, 750g steak, cooked and rested to perfection. Expect to wait the appropriate time to get your steak delivered to such high quality. The sides, just as good. The starters, well, make sure you get a few dishes to share to avoid fork fights as you reach for the last few bits, you have been warned, the crackling and pork starters, you’ll want more! The beef dripping chips, my goodness, just say yes to those! For the high quality of hosting, dining experience and the high quality food that will be placed in front of you, expect to pay a fair price, which is more than other places, but not unreasonable, the quality and value is worth it. Enjoy!

I always say judge a city by its steak. So upon visiting Bristol for the first time with a friend, our first port of call was to secure a table for the evening, prior to working up an appropriate appetite with a thorough visit to the Bristol Aerospace Museum. Initially we were drawn to Pasture, but lackluster customer service & a disorganised waiting list were clear red flags on the restaurant. Back to square one & suitably hungry, having now been up close & personal with Concorde for an hour plus, we were still naturally concerned to avoid a tourist trap. As a result, we consulted with some friendly locals & they couldn’t be keener to recommend The Cow & Sow, located in Queen’s Square. And what a fantastic time we had. Perfect service from start to finish, alongside some outstanding food. Knowledgeable waiting staff directed us to share 800g of 35 day aged Chateubriand, cooked medium rare, accompanied by a wonderful Portuguese red. Sides were recommended appropriately & without excess, while we were comforted by the waiter’s assurance that we could always order more as we went. We were left perfectly full (we still had the energy for several rounds of table tennis many hours later) & equally impressed with the restroom facilities, while the buzzing atmosphere in the restaurant left us excited to hit the town. Highly recommend.

I am absolutely delighted to share my exceptional experience at the Cow and Sow restaurant located at Queens Garden in Bristol, UK. Without a doubt, it deserves a full 5-star review for its outstanding service, delicious food, and overall delightful atmosphere.

Our server, Chloe, truly elevated our dining experience. Her attentiveness and genuine care for our satisfaction were evident from the moment we sat down. Not only did she take the time to provide recommendations for side dishes that perfectly complemented our meal, but she also ensured that every detail was attended to, creating a truly memorable dining experience.

Speaking of the meal, the culinary offerings at Cow and Sow were nothing short of exceptional. I had the pleasure of enjoying the flat iron steak with peppercorn sauce, and it was an absolute masterpiece. Cooked to perfection, the steak was tender, flavorful, and a true testament to the skill of the chef. My wife's fish dinner was equally impressive, showcasing the restaurant's dedication to delivering a diverse and top-quality menu.

A special mention must be made about the thick-cut fries, which were simply outstanding. Crispy on the outside and wonderfully tender on the inside, they were the perfect accompaniment to our dishes.

In summary, my experience at Cow and Sow was an absolute delight. From the attentive and knowledgeable service provided by Chloe to the exquisite flavors of the meals, it was a memorable dining experience that exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Cow and Sow to anyone seeking an extraordinary culinary journey in Bristol. The combination of Chloe's excellent service, the masterful preparation of dishes, and the inviting atmosphere make it a true gem in the city's...
