Small Bar has become our King Street go to when in Bristol. We jokingly call it medium bar as it isn't really that small - and it has a mightily impressive beer selection! Last time we had dinner here and my other half hasn't stopped thinking about the peanut chicken burger since. This time the food was mostly sold out (it was really late on a Friday by the time we got off our flight and into the city) but we were happy enough to start our trip with some pre-dinner beers. Small Bar is really cozy, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the beer is the icing on the cake. I think we came here every day of our trip and we'll definitely be back! I just wish we lived in Bristol so this could be our local!

First visit to Small Bar, in fact first visit to Bristol. We only had a couple of hours spare so a visit here was a high priority, especially as I'd heard so much about it, It's really good and dispite its name far bigger than expected with both inside and outside seating. Beers are excellent with an excellent choice, especially LHG beers which are fairly uncommon in my home city; however, the absolute standout thing has to be Wings. Wings are the people in Small Bars kitchen and their chicken dirty fries with Korean sauce are spectacular and firey hot, they're also massive, by far the biggest portion of what is essentially street food I've ever had.

Small Bar is a great place to get a drink of something outside the usual. Their selection on tap changes frequently, with a wide variety of craft beers, a couple of ciders and a few oddities that are more out-there than you will find at your average local on a Sunday. The staff are friendly and helpful: they know what drinks they are offering, and are happy to talk about the selection, usually with samples, when time permits. There is also a range of cans and bottles from far and wide, again changing quite regularly. Payment is card only, which saves of faffing with change, and works really well when the bar gets busy.

The gem of King St., IMHO. One of the only places to which I bring a notebook (to help remember all the amazing beers!) They have such a wide selection of draft beer that you are going to discover some delights, and some duds among them – but that's craft brewing for you. Fortunately they offer a taste of whatever you want to try, and the staff are knowledgeable. Suggestion: go for the Tasting Flight – six beers in six small glasses, that should help you discover what you like. And try the hop vodka. Food: excellent; they were well ahead of the pulled pork trend and there's always something satisfying amid the meaty sandwiches, hot dogs, mac+cheese, dirty fries etc. Only reason for withholding one star is that they no longer do the awesome French Dip sandwich, and have withdrawn the superbly esoteric hot sauces in favour of more generic condiments, Tabasco et al. Yawn… becoming more mainstream, alas (like the whole craft beer thing in general). But it's still an excellent place to go – lunch or evening, eating or just drinks, inside or out, Small Bar is your friend. And it's super near to...

Drinks, food and bar staff are great. However, I got needlessly kicked out of SmallBar, as I was leaning out of the window, to try and see some loud live music going on outside. The blonde security guard came upstairs, and rudely asked me to get down from the windowsill (which I did, immediately and apologised), and then proceeded to ask me to leave right that instant. Just want to clarify, I had consumed one drink (2/3 pint), and had only consumed about 1/3 of my second (and final) pint, whilst my two friends had about 3/4 of their seconds left. I asked politely if I could finish my drink first before leaving, and she just refused to listen and forced me to leave. One friend was in the toilet when this happened, and when she returned all of our drinks had been thrown away. This is totally unacceptable in my opinion, as those had all been paid for, and my 2 friends certainly didn't do anything wrong. I was apologetic and polite, and in no way even tipsy. I think this was incredibly unfair, and I will not be going back anytime soon, as I'm actually genuinely upset by...

I was so looking forward to eating at your pub but unfortunately when we attended you were playing 'Death Metal' which completely spoiled my meal out and catch up with my daughter.

We did think the music might change but unfortunately it didn't. People go out to eat and to be able to chat to each other, why the heck would you put this type of music on is beyond me.

No wonder there were more people outside than inside but unfortunately people were smoking (not just the cigarette type either), so that was not an option for us.

I wanted to bring my hubby who would love all the different Ales you do but have been put off returning.

The food was good, although the crispy chicken coating could do with more seasoning and my daughters 2nd piece was missing most of hers, which was disappointing, as that is one of the best bits.

Were we just unfortunate to land on a day that the music was not gaged for the majority of people (Wednesday 19th April @ 5pm ish), if so, please let us know and we will definitely be back...
