I just saw I had a 5 star review fro. 6 years ago when I started coming to the restaurant. Nevertheless, I feel differently now. Food still good but I had a few incidents and I am afraid I'm not coming back again: Once we ordered extra prosciutto for a pizza. They serves us a single slice and charged us ÂŁ5, almost 50% of the price of the pizza. I have a couple of favourite dishes that I usually order, one of them being SCALOPPINA MILANESE, at the watering eye price of ÂŁ21. Nevertheless willing to pay for good food in my local restaurant. I have ordered this dish probably over 10 times over the past years and, as stated on the menu "All mains are served with a selection of fresh vegetables or chunky chips". And this dish in particular comes with spaghetti side as well. Like I said I've ordered a dozen times and it's always been like that. Last time, when I got the bill they charged me ÂŁ4 for the fries that I only ordered because I they come with the dish. When I questioned this, I felt almost attacked and I was told that this has never been like this and I have to pay. And if I haven't been charged before, it has been a mistake (apparently over the past 6 years every single time, and also stated clearly in the menu - you can see this in the restaurant or even in their website). I couldn't care less about the ÂŁ4, I'd have left more in tips, but the experience was terrible and the way we were treated. They've lost regular customers (I know they will know who I am if they read this) over ÂŁ4 and terrible customer service.
It was completely unfair and I felt like they didn't care about us at all. I guess now they have the restaurant full they don't care when we were going and it was only a few tables.
I wish you all the best and I will reiterate, THE FOOD IS REALLY GOOD, but I will not be seen...
Read moreThere's a reason this place has been here for decades, and I'm guessing it's because of the food and staff. Didn't fancy of our usual blah takeaway selection a few weeks back, and after playing the thrilling, "no, you choose" game with my husband, I randomly chose this place after driving past. We ordered, and I took a gamble with the arrancini, after never having had a tasty one before. And it was so good, I'm salivating over the memory of it (I'm lying, I've just had another one). The garlic bread is just how I remembered it from birthday meals, in traditional Italian restaurants, as a child. All light and crispy, drenched in butter and obviously garlicky. Our takeaways from here have been upgraded to "feast" status in our household, and long may they continue. We routinely have the capricciosa, squid, arrancini, and garlic bread (sometimes with cheese, sometimes without as we like to live life on the edge) Parking is a bit tricky, but my husband parks his van down the little lane opposite Temple Meads and I remain as the getaway driver. My husband also notes that it is sparkling clean inside and the staff are very nice too. So much so that they helped carry out our order tonight because I talked my colleagues into partaking on our...
Read moreMy partner brought me here for my birthday as it had high TripAdvisor ratings. The food was absolutely disgusting not authentic by any means, no salt, everything tasted either bland or sugary, the atmosphere awful, just a loud mess - felt as though we were in a rowdy club at times.
The waitress was sarcastic and rude and didn't accept my complaints - I never usually complain but this was an insult to Italian food.
I mentioned the lack of seasoning and she said you need to ask for salt and pepper. Pepper of which we were offered and asked for but no salt on/in anything... Really? Is that not one of the most basic seasonings any food should have at least a pinch of?
It was just like an episode of kitchen nightmares, except it doesn't get any better.
Would not recommend, worst food I've ever had, avoid at all costs. The positive reviews must be from bots, drunk people or people who don't know what Italian food is or what it should taste like.
I feel sick after eating this, hopefully it's not...
