It was ok, nothing to write home about. The starters were pretty good but the curry was disappointing.

This just confirmed previous experiences when eating Indian food. Rule number 1: find the worst looking hole in the wall place and you will eat great Indian food. Do not try to eat higher end Indian food, that is just not how it’s meant to be prepared. I assume it’s because if you’re trying to make a proper business work (with rent in an expensive location) you will be cutting costs to maximise profits, this results in less flavour due to diluted sauces and also smaller portions.

Just trust me on this one, go to a majority ethnic neighbourhood and find a place that looks like it would have a very low hygiene rating and that doesn’t have cutlery on the tables. You will be guaranteed a good meal.

As for the atmosphere, it wasn’t very comfortable. So many things to say…but the worst was probably the manager who was VERY energetic and kept making a loud snorting sound like his nose was blocked. I’ve been to enough parties to know he wasn’t just happy to see us. Then they had the same ‘Indian’ sounding tune on repeat the entire time we were there, kind of how you might imagine an Indian massage parlour to sound. As for the decor, it was all quite low budget and felt very exposed because the windows are just fully open onto a busy road.

In conclusion, I feel very sorry for all the people that have left really positive reviews. But also happy for them because they have a whole world of actually good Indian food to explore (I’m not naming the good spots otherwise they’ll be ruined by gentrification, you’ll have go through the...

A Culinary Gem in Bristol: Talwar Express

I've had the pleasure of dining at Talwar Express during my recent visits to Bristol, and I must say, it's an absolute gem among Indian restaurants. Having frequented numerous establishments in the area, Talwar Express stands out for its exceptional food, warm ambiance, and unparalleled hospitality.

During my stays in January and March, totaling seven days, I had the opportunity to indulge in a variety of dishes, each leaving a lasting impression. From the aromatic masala chai to the flavorful Pao bhaji, pani poori, veg thali, samosa chat, and dal makhni, every bite was a delightful journey through Indian cuisine.

What truly sets Talwar Express apart, however, is not just its delectable fare, but the remarkable service provided by the owner and staff. Their genuine warmth and attentiveness elevate the dining experience to new heights, making every visit feel like a special occasion.

Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur of Indian cuisine or simply seeking an unforgettable dining experience in Bristol, I wholeheartedly recommend Talwar Express. Prepare to be enchanted by the tantalizing flavors, impeccable service, and welcoming atmosphere that define this culinary haven. Talwar Express has undoubtedly earned its place as a must-visit destination for food...

We were on a holiday trip and landed in Bristol for local tour. While we pass by the city central, we found this cozy Indian restaurant. When we entered for dinner, we were welcomed by the staff with warm smile and that initial moment made us comfortable to dine in. The menu looks pretty straight forward with choice of Starter, main course, sides & choice of beverage. Trust me the food is really great and a great palate to your taste buds. The team showcased "Atithi Devo Bhava" ( Treating guest with same respect you give to God). We were suggested fewer menu options and the choice of beverage (Alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Trust me the food is really great. If you want to try an Indian street food with family and friends this is the best in town as per my experience. Give a try to this place and I'm sure you will make one more visit to this place. They have a great menu and refer the latest image I have uploaded. They do organize outdoor events and bulk bookings as well.

Quick reference guide: Avg meal per person: 25 - 30pounds Food served are freshly prepared Any allergens notify prior to order Restaurant have clean rest rooms Bar service - Yes Staff behavior - Excellent Take away - Yes Delivery - By 3rd party Family...

Superb food. Great to find a Thali. Everything home cooked and fresh; not your bog-standard Indian. Superb front of house service from Meghna. Friendly, informed about the dishes and how they are created, warm and welcoming, fast service: excellent. Chef: popped his head out of the kitchen to say hello which was a great chance for me to thank him for an excellent experience. Definitely happy to have this addition to Bristol. I ate the Vegetarian Thali (which was also Vegan and Gluten-Free!). I look forward to bringing my ever-increasing number of friends with plant-based diets here and to returning frequently.
