This small restaurant boasts a very good atmosphere with excellent food and brilliant service.
For starter we shared some garlic and cheese flat breads which I highly recommend, garlic was not too overpowering and it had just the right amount of cheese.
For main course we had a selection of food ranging from a Bolognese pizza, which is the best I have ever had, to some perfectly cooked steaks. The only fault that I could find would be that I prefer having the sauce served separately rather than on the steak itself. As well as the meats being cooked to perfection the veg which accompanied them were also to a high standard. The homemade chips which we had with the main were definitely a winner and would go well with anything even as a side order.
Dessert was very nice, we had a selection of 3 small cheesecakes which were correctly portioned.
The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and the service was excellent. An elderly member of our party asked for tartare sauce and (understandably, given that it's not usually served with Italian food) they didn't have any. This however didn't deter the chef from specially preparing some which was a bonus.
The menu offers a great range of dishes to suit all tastes, the only suggestions that I could make would be to compress it. Nowadays many restaurants regardless of size have chosen to go for smaller more specialist menus which is more trendy. Also, on the dessert menu the cheesecake is called 'Cheesecake of the week' which always makes me wonder, am I getting today's cheesecake? Or am I getting cheesecake that is 6 days old?
I would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant and will definitely be eating there again, hopefully in the...
Read moreMy first visit, a family night out celebrating Mum's visit. Very easy to book a table, which was a must even though we went mid-week it was really busy. We used the pay car park directly opposite for ease. You can park for free for 2 hours in nearby disc zone streets, with a Cumbria parking disc available free from many local outlets. Unfortunately we were not advised of the hours wait for food when we ordered, but the food was worth it. The staff were helpful and attentive, we had pitchers of water for the table during our wait. There are stairs to the toilet facilities and to the front of the restaurant itself, so if you require accessible facilities this will be difficult. This is most definitely the most authentic Italian restaurant I've been to with the food and atmosphere reminding me of Rome. Mum isn't a fan of huge plates of food these days and was able to order a smaller meal from the children's section. We managed starters and mains, resorting to fabulous limoncello shots as afters. I'm really looking forward to going back here and will be making sure I have room for...
Read moreWow. Just wow.
This place is a hidden gem in Carlisle.
A teeny little Italian restaurant with proper decent traditional meals on offer.
We went here post graduation ceremony and so glad we did as it was one of the best meals I have had for a while.
Perfect seat at a comfy table and LOVED the decor. You could almost believe you are in a little village in Italy.
Very prompt and FAST service.
Firstly I had warm goats cheese on bread with ragu as in the photo. Wow. Incredible flavours and had be completely dribbling for the next course.
Next was chicken valdostana(might have spelt that wrong) chicken breast, breaded, deep fried, topped with mozzarella, served with spaghetti bolognaise. Absolutely incredible. Was full to bursting when we left and was good value.
Totally recommend this place. I will be...
