My daughter booked this restaurant in Cheltenham for me specially as she knew l loved Thai food. The decoration is stunning. However the staff services was very POOR. 👎
The waitress gave us a small table next to the stairs. I saw there are 2 other couples given a 4 people table right in the middle of the dining hall. I didn't understand we were treated differently. I asked the waiter if they were full house. He said no. I questioned him why we were given a small table at the corner. He was rude and pointed at the larger tables that they were for larger groups and my tiny table was sufficient for 2 people. I paid them so l could enjoy dining there! 😡 However, they seemed to change their mind and offer me a 4 people table in the middle of dining hall. I felt that they had paid more attention to their customers. 👍
Another Thai lady suddenly interrupted our conversation and asked us if we wanted to order still or fizzy water. My daughter replied that we just wanted tape water. She quickly gathered the 2 glasses and our water never came. 😡😡
I ordered a beef dish, but was simply presented with a different dish. It was over cooked as the beef was tough and extremely salty. Actually l didn't mind a different dish as long as it was cooked properly. The steamed glutinous rice wasn't cooked properly as insufficient water was used or may even be old cooked rice reheated for me. I love the chewy texture of glutinous rice so l know what it's like if the rice was not cooked properly. 😡😡😡
Will definitely not go back and not recommended...
Read moreHave frequented this restaurant many times over a 10 year span and apart from a patch a few years back when the food seemed to dip in quality, the experience, food and staff have been fantastic. Visited on a Friday night and the restaurant was surprisingly quiet. Starters were order and before they arrived there was confusion between the waiting staff as one took away plates, another placed them, then starters came and they all scrambled to remove said plates again. This is only a small blunder which doesn't warrant 2 stars. What does is once the starters had been eaten, one member of the party was still finishing his starter when the waiter started clearing our plates. This is extremely rude and have not ever experienced this at any other restaurant. Mains came promptly and were tasty with no hiccup in that part of the service. After our plates were cleared, no one came to offer us desserts or tea and coffee. So after a 20 minute wait, a member of the party had to get up and ask the staff for a menu. This is very poor service, and we subsequently did not order any desserts and left after paying the bill at which no one said thank you after the payment or acknowledged us leaving the restaurant. Would have to say we won't be visiting anytime soon again...
Read moreI've been wanting to visit the Thai Emerald for a while now and finally made it.
I can tell you that it's everything it proposes to be. I was so blown away by the decor, I had to leave and re-enter to experience it again.
The service is impeccable and the food is 🔝 notch. You never know what you're going to get when you're going into a restaurant that hasn't been recommended by anyone, but this place properly has a "come inside and see" vibe about it.
It's been a good while since I've eaten Thai and the first time I've ever eaten beef in a Thai restaurant. I was exercised a bit of trepidation at first, but the green curry was TDF. I could have drank it!
I was full, but HAD to try the desert when offered. I had the oddly named "Chocolate Crunchy Pudding"...in my mind I envisioned a rich dark gateau with some sort of crust. What I got was nothing like could imagine. Sort of a tiramisù but not...let's the say that my first taste of it made me blaspheme with ecstatic joy. Amazing. Compliments to the chef 👌🏾😘
A great meal, fantastic service and a truly...
