I really didn’t want to leave a terrible review, but our experience yesterday left A LOT to be desired. I know they are new, but yesterday was pure chaos. I will say the interior of the place is gorgeous and cosy, hence the 4 stars for atmosphere. First, they ran out of bread (98% of the menu involves bread) and they went and got a loaf from MS. Then a majority of their toasties call for chutney and they ran out of that too. I was offered the pesto toastie but due to allergies ended up going with Avocado. For 7.99 you can get a salad with your toastie which I opted for. I also ordered a can of sprite. It ended up taking 30 minutes to get my sprite and 39 minutes to get our orders which were both incorrect and had to be redone. I felt bad as you could tell staff was stressed, but in no universe should it take 39 minutes for 2 toasties. And when your menu is very limited, you shouldn’t be running out of 2 of the biggest parts of the menu. Bathroom was filthy and they ran out of toilet paper. Also, just a note. Instead of having customers have to ask which cheeses you have, just have them listed on the menu. It...

This café in Edinburgh is an absolute delight! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The décor is charming, with a cozy blend of modern and rustic elements that make it a perfect spot to relax.

The coffee is outstanding—rich, aromatic, and expertly brewed. They offer a great selection of teas and specialty drinks as well. The food menu is equally impressive, with freshly baked pastries, delicious cakes, and a variety of light meals to choose from.

The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure every customer feels at home. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to work, a cozy corner to read a book, or just a great cup of coffee, this café is a fantastic choice. Highly...

A Perfect Brew in a Cozy Corner

Books and Cups is a hidden gem for coffee lovers and bookworms alike. I had the pleasure of trying their coffee today, and it was nothing short of exceptional. The brew was rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced—no bitterness, just full-bodied flavor that lingers in the best way.

The ambiance is warm and inviting, with books and a quiet, relaxed vibe that makes it easy to unwind or focus. Whether you’re catching up on work or escaping into a good novel, the setting complements the coffee perfectly.

Highly recommend their signature blends—each cup feels thoughtfully crafted. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and top-tier coffee. What more could...

Perfect spot for some lunch if you like cheese! Thought it was great that they had some decent cheeses that you could choose from and LOVED that it's an option to have your toasties as croissants. Thought the decor was charming and the cups and saucers were a beautiful design. (However, the shape of the handles meant that for a lefty, I had to use my right hand!). Great that we could take our dog in, having been for a walk at Inverleith Park. Good coffee too!
