Cafe Gallo — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

Went here as a random stop for a coffee on the way back to our hotel, its a very small place so you probably have to fight for a seat but they genuinely do one of the best coffees I've had in scotland (and I've had quite a few!!). I did compliment them and they sad it was italian beans that they use. The coffee was very smooth and creamy as apposed to the usual bitter, burnt coffee alot of places do. I had a cappuccino and the milk wasn't over frothy either which again is a usual mistake in the UK. It has quite a cool vibe, almost art student-y. Allergy issues - please address.

I'm leaving a good review because I do not think there is a need to criticise your rating over this issue, I just want you to take notice.

On three separate occasions I have clearly asked for an item to be both gluten free and dairy free (the satay). All three times I've had one of my allergens remain in the sandwich. I've had to scrape Brie off twice and was once given gluten containing ingredients. This can make me unwell for days at a time and you have agreed to cater for it so please pay attention, take notes for your chef and double-check because everything else is amazing. What a fantastic little cafe. Not much in the way of seating but the food is just amazing. When I saw the menu I thought it was a bit pricey but when the food arrived it was well worth the money. My breakfast wrap was just packed with everything you would expect (sausage, bacon, black pudding, potato scone, egg) and I was absolutely stuffed afterwards. I would say probably the best breakfast wrap i have had in Edinburgh. The rest of the menu looked equally appetising and I would definitely return to try other dishes.
