Had the vegetarian courgette and toasted hazelnut foccacia sandwich. It was really good, with the hazelnuts and rocket and good amount of balsamic. Although I felt the cold courgette was a little slimy, the hazelnuts (although an amazing addition) did mostly fall out of my sandwich and I felt like the oil from the foccacia was dripping down my arms (which is a personal pet peeve). I did feel like the vegetarian/vegan menu was lacking a little bit in terms of the number of options (but I was so glad to see there wasn‘t just an unoriginal vegan falafal option (like in almost every single sandwich place in existence)).

If heaven is real, it’s not clouds and harps — it’s a focaccia sandwich from Mootz. These guys don’t just fill sandwiches, they wage an all-out battle against gravity and structural integrity. Honestly, the laws of physics don’t apply here. One bite in and I was already wondering if I should’ve signed a waiver.

Also, let’s talk about the view: not the castle, not Arthur’s Seat, not even the Royal Mile… I mean the cute guys behind the counter casually building carb monuments like Michelangelo with mozzarella. Watching them stack my focaccia was a spiritual experience.

Edinburgh might be full of history and culture, but forget all that — this is the best sandwich in town. If you don’t believe me, go hungry, leave stuffed, and maybe fall a little...

I dismissed this place when I saw £8 / £12 against their sandwiches but finally gave it a go today. Right so the £8 Reuben is pretty big... And the £12 is ginormous. Quality I would genuinely give it a 10/10, I'm not the biggest fan of focaccia as it's usually too difficult to eat and you end up with oil all over your face. This focaccia is not too oily, great texture as is the right level of chewy and crispy and is a bit thinner, the fillings are spot on too.

The price at least matches the quality of what you're getting I'd say, when you compare what you'd get for £8 in Stockbridge (outside of Greggs) I'd say it's probably the best value of the lot. Will...
