Tucked away in a quiet corner, Dirty Dicks pub is a true gem. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The interior is a feast for the eyes, with countless quirky and interesting decorations adorning every available space. It's the kind of place you could spend hours just looking around. Beyond the unique decor, the pub offers a genuinely cozy experience. The food is top-notch, with classic pub fare done right. But the real star of the show is the famous deep-fried Mars bar. It's a must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth—a perfect, indulgent end to a fantastic meal. Dirty Dicks is more than just a pub; it's a cozy and memorable escape.

A great little quirky pub in the heart of the Edinburgh shopping district. A cosy little bar that offers a warm welcome break from walking around the sights and shops. Good beers and the essential large selection of whiskies. While you're here try the freshly made food, the menu comes in the middle of an old Beano /Dandy annual. We went for a snack, ie the sandwich and homemade soup combo, in our case a Cajun chicken and a Ham, cheese and tomato sandwich both filled to the rafters and then there was the Leak soup, a decent sized bowl full of a very tasty Leak soup. The snack was supposed to tide us over until our evening meal but actually took us way past it.

There are many drinking & dining options on Rose street but I'm pleased we walked past them all and settled for Dirty Dicks. The interior is chock-a-block with walls & ceiling covered in all manner of strange and interesting objects, super quirky and very memorable. Bar staff were nice and engaging. We ordered the cajun coated chicken tenders and the "not too wee" nachos and these were more than enough to fill us up and tasted great, the nachos were prepared correctly with the various topping layered throughout the dish and not just plonked on top 😋 Thoroughly enjoyable lunch with a few Guinness. No hesitation in recommending.

Lots of character and a great place for the tourists to enjoy a touch of Scottish pubery. There is a great selection of whiskies and reasonable choice of beers and ales. There is a very small kitchen but sorry I cannot give an opinion on their offerings. This is a great spot on a pub crawl of Roseefinately worth a visit Street's many wonderful pubs. If you awre not familiar with Rose St it is definitely worth a walk along this pedestrian precinct one street behind Edinburgh's main street, Princes Street. Glad with great punk's an eateries, Dirty Dick's is worth a stop. It's small size just add to the charm. Not having tried their food aside, my biggest complaint is the bathroom (only tried the men's) which like many UK establishments leaves a lot to be desired. A complete renovation is loudly called for. This fact contributes to a much lower score as well as my recommendation for a short stop while moving on to some of the other fine establishments that adorn Rose Street in the heart...

We had previously eaten in Dirty Dick’s a few years ago so thought we would give it another go today. What a disappointment! The menu, apart from burgers, is scant to say the least. I was going to try the steak pie, but was informed they didn’t have any gravy to serve with it when I asked for gravy: so I then decided to have their fish & chips. When it was served it looked nice but soon afterwards we found the batter to be very soggy and not crisp as shown on their menu. They also didn’t have any brown sauce when we asked for this! Considering the price of around £15.99 for 1 small piece of fish & some frozen chips the meal was certainly not what we would were expecting. We will not be back in this establishment which has really gone downhill over the past 3 years since we last visited it. To add a further negative; it seemed the table top had not been cleaned for some considerable time as the wooden platers our meals were served on stuck to the table top when we tried...

Awful

Good food served by the assistant manager Craig Topping wearing his best T shirt and Joggers. The assistant manager thinks it is acceptable to sit and drink with two friends one who is also a staff member while on duty. Not only did they sit and drink the fowl language and shouting was disgusting. Ruined an evening and when confronted about this Craig who apparently works for his dad so is secure in his employment said you should have told us to shut up.

Sorry Craig that was your job when your friend were swearing loudly and the smirk and "well I am sorry" by no means compensates me for having to listen to it and leave my meal unfinished.

Customer service...
