East Gate Coffee Bar — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

Myself and those I ate with had a pleasant time sitting on the cafe patio, surrounded by trees and the pleasant sounds of local birds. We ate, and enjoyed, a sweet potato & sun dried tomato sandwich and a aubergine hummus sandwiches. Together with the hot drinks, it was all prepared on site using fresh ingredients. I couldn’t have been happier with the service received there. I was impressed by the speed and politeness of the servers. There is also options for younger visitors too, which soft drinks and sugar free...

Wow, what a bad experience. We walked in & looked around at the Snacks & menu. The clerk never even looked up from scrolling on his phone. I stood in front of him / the counter waiting & waiting. He finally looks up and snaps, "go ahead I'm waiting." I mean it was awful on a human level, let alone as customer service. Coffee wasn't awful. Whatever is wrong with the guy, I'm sorry for him, but he shouldn't bring that...

We went to see lights a bitanic garden and stopped there for hot chocolate. Because of queque and only one person working behind counter it became busy place so turned out later that you have to pay for whipped cream and marsmallows on your chocolate separately (not mentioned in menu or by seller). Overall small nice place during daytime but could use more light and maybe outdoor heaters for this event as it happens...
