Admire company developing & making their own āmeatsā. Cafe is dark cosy & artsy. Nice music & blocks out main road traffic noise. Larger folks & wheelchairs will have trouble sitting in as seating is tight! Iād consider significantly reducing the length of your long table to allow access to the window seat. Both slim people & we struggled & had to drag & push the table away. FOOD Shared a haggis, cheese & cranberry, and Mac cheese bacon Toastie. As the only sit-in customers we had food in under 10min. Both came piping hot! Good quantity of filling. Both on white bread which was VERY thin & really only acted as a vessel & crunch. Pasta cooked well but cheese flavour was extremely mild. Constantly felt like something was lacking in each bite. Haggis was moist with a little texture & bite but lacked spice. Cranberry sweetness overpowered what should have been the star of the show. Coffee was coffee. Diet cola tasted like proper cola.
At Ā£8-10 per sandwich Iād question if extras like free lemon water, dogs allowed & nice decor is enough to make up for definite lack of flavour.
I so desperately wanted to love this place due to the fab review, and it has such potential BUT we eat for flavour and that was lacking. I will give it another go to see what the atmosphere, speed & food is like at a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLiterally best sandwich I've ever had! No joke, this morning was the first time I've actually bought anything from a vegan cafe and it's blown my mind. I only popped in here as I had just missed my bus and having not yet had breakfast thought I'd might get a quick bite from here. It was so chilled, just a couple, their dog and one other person in, some nice music...lovely. Had a look at their menu on the wall and The Haggis Melt instantly stood out for me. I did have my doubts if it was going to be anything like the real deal but having got it to take- away, I opened it up and was very surprised at the portions. 2 mega filled toasted sandwiches of haggis, cheese and caramelised onion... they looked perfect and they tasted out of this world. I can't describe it other than that. Best sandwich ever. Delighted to have stumbled into this place and though not a practising vegan (Sorry) I'll definitely be back here again to try a few more options because that haggis melt is going to be on my mind now for days! Thank you for a...
Read moreFood was good for the price and the portions decent, special mention to the tuna melt and the basilic courgette daily special. Service was disappointing, we arrived at a very quiet time with 2 kids + wheelchair user. The staff seemed baffled to be asked to slice a sandwich in 4 instead of 2 for kids to share and to provide a second plate, they did not know where the closest public or accessible toilet was and overall not very helpful. Out of an order of 6 simple items, one sandwich was missing and served 20mins after everyone else. It would also be nice to see a vegan business train their staff in basic Accessibility practices (with animals kids and disabled folks are the most vulnerable in our society...) Ie: When you do not have toilets, try to know where the nearest accessible one is?! Making slight adjustments such as helping disabled wheelchair users with water or simply serving 2 plates for kids to share one meal outside rush hour does not feel out of reach⦠simple solidarity and...
