FreshMex — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

I love a burrito and I had this place do awesome ones so my wife and I went and gave them a bash. We went in and they have an overhead board with the menu. By paying a little extra you can get unlimited filling which we both went for. I was sure what meat I wanted. Apparently they had run out of beef and wasn’t sure when they’ll have some again. He helpful gentleman suggested I got the pork and the haggis because the haggis on its own is sometimes a bit much. So I went with that and basically all the fillings. My wife went with a chicken burrito. We paid and then took a seat. It was strange because the shop didn’t seem that busy but the waitresses appeared very stressed and one in particular was running back and forth which seemed a little unnecessary. Maybe she was just trying to burn a few extra calories. There was one lady that asked how long until her order was ready because they had been waiting a while. We sat quite near the open kitchen and we could see/best the waitress nagging the kitchen staff to hurry up. Not going to lie, it did negatively affect the atmosphere. The same waitress also came up to us after we had finished and asked for payment even though we had already paid. She was very apologetic but there was clearly a breakdown in communication between staff. Thankfully we didn’t have to wait as long as we expected for our burritos. Both of them were very nice. Lovely staff and nice atmosphere, the food was delicious in the end but there was a couple of issues. First was the waiting period as we came in and ordered and was told to take a seat - there was 4 people in the line behind us and they all received their food before us and it took quite a long time to actually get the food. When we did get the food and left we had to come back because it wasn’t our order, luckily it was still vegan. We came all the way back to exchange it for the actual meals we ordered there was no problem in remaking the food. After a while again we got the right order. The 2nd time around the food was much more presentable and portioned better and it was much more delicious whereas the first ones were just overpowered with too much rice and sauce and not enough anything else.The food was good but because of the waiting / ordering issue don’t know if I will be ordering again as there seem to be...

What a great place!!!!!! Admittedly I prejudged the place as it looked too "chainy" and didn't think it'd be good. Thanks to a work lunch I've been introduced to this place, and it's great!!!

There are loads of options and filling combinations available -which are REALLY delicious! I look forward to going back and trying need things.

You basically select a main, add a filling (or two) and then lots of different toppings!

Even better; there are gluten free options available; rice bowl and nachos

Staff were absolutely lovely, down to earth, friendly and helpful

Freshmex started out in Aberdeen and this is their next branch, great to see!

I'm a new fan now and look forward to my next visit

Price wise I think it's good; ~£12 for nachos...
