A mixed experience here.
The café is situated on Dalry Road, and there is a fair amount of footfall past the door, but I was the only customer at 9:30 in the morning. The ambience and decoration of the sales and seating area is excellent, with a tempting display of, pastries and cakes laid out. There were two members of staff working and I ordered Eggs Benedict and a flat white coffee. Both were absolutely excellent, the Benedict served with a great side salad of high-quality ingredients and the coffee was just as I like it, strong and well flavoured. And the total price at just over £10 was reasonable for the quality too. But I sat and ate all alone; not a single further customer came in, rather diminishing the experience there. Things would have been far better if I had been eating with friends, but it’s disconcerting to see a place so empty at what must be a relatively busy time of the morning. The staff were sadly more interested in talking between themselves than with their customers – when I complimented them on my breakfast on the way out I was ignored, and that left a disappointing aftertaste to the whole experience.
Not Just Coffee is clearly aiming for a better than average eating experience, and perhaps its location is a difficult one bearing mind the lack of other shopping opportunities nearby to draw customers in, but a bit more concentration on the customer experience when people do come in might improve their prospects. Read moreI tried to go 2 weeks ago, although I was going within opening hours they said they were closing early that day. Not an apology, not a sign on the door. Last week I went again. This time it was open. I ordered drinks and cake for myself and my daughter. When we went to use the toilet staff informed us toilets were out of service. I appreciate things out of staff control happen but this should have been indicated at the door, or as a minimun communicated by staff before ordering. Even more considering I was with a small child. Again no apology, just dismissive staff. I will not try a 3rd time. Their Leith branch staff is excellent. A shame this is...
Read moreI grew up in Dalry, we never had places like this but glad we do now. Lovely venue, so comfortable and well greeted by the girls when we first went in. We could only get a coffee, as we were too early for food, it starts at 10 am but the coffee was great, service was excellent.
Great place to go and chill out...
