Staying in Edinburgh for a few days with family, had booked this Italian restaurant a few days in advance as it looked nice online and seemed to have a good menu. Went today for the evening meal and was greeted by being told to wait outside for over 10 minutes while they sorted the table which we had already booked days in advance. Had to stand far away from the restaurant and wait to be told to come in as the entrance was so narrow and had waiters walking in and out every minute, once we were eventually Invited in we were shown to a really small and crammed booth table with the whine restaurant having massively outdated decor and was really crammed with all the tables close together. Was politely offered drinks and menus which we ordered starters at the same time as mains. Drinks were massively overpriced as well as food. Waited over an hour for the starters to come and when we finally got given food the waiter brought our mains. We asked why we had not been given starters but was told that he was unsure, but he could go and ask and asked if it was s okay to leave the mains there. Was advised him that we wanted the starters first and then the mains, as you do normally going for a meal but his only response was we would just have to wait another hour for the food to be fresh again. After asking to speak to the manager we were just told that we would be tell the same thing as what he said. We just decided to scarp the started and just eat the mains that were brought out, which were cold when they were brought out anyway. The food was not worth the price and portions were tiny. My mum ordered a seafood pasta in which they had just placed cooked seafood as it was caught on her plate with no instruction as how to eat it or pull it apart. Overall terrible experience, service was shocking and food was awful for the...
Read moreThe poorest Italian food, nay, just food I’ve ever tasted. I’d call it an insult to a nation of great cooks. The antipasti starter was about a 4/10. The decent bits were those obviously bought and not prepared on premises like the cured meats. Even then the ingredients were subpar for a place of this price. The roast veggies were obviously the sort of thing Italians buy in jars from a supermarket for quick food with a long shelf life, not restaurant dining. Bread was on the turn of stale and I won’t be fobbed off with an answer like that’s the style: I know stale from sourdough or denser bread.
Had the seafood fettuccine For main: no seasoning, no sauce(was just boiled pasta) with sub par seafood ingredients thrown in. Garlic? No. Herbs? No. There was meant to be white wine in it, there was no such thing. The pasta itself was severely overcooked as if they feared serving al dente to non Italians and went completely the other way. It’s the only meal where I’ve taken about five bites and thought ‘this is actually repulsive, I can’t eat it’. I’m half expecting a night clinging to my toilet. I’ll leave an edit if this happens.
The wait staff were polite, snappy and attentive. Obviously noticing I didn’t like it they asked me if they could do anything. I just said no I won’t be getting anything else.
The whole point of a restaurant is that they can offer better food than the average person can cook at home. I can cook better than I was served.
This would literally be prime real-estate for Gordon Ramsey’s...

We arrived only to be spoken to in a short manner after asking for availability. After some deliberation between the workers they ushered us to a table which was in the middle of the walkway between the kitchen and the bar. Despite this we continued through as we were both very hungry! We ordered quickly and strangely our drinks and food arrived at the same! The drinks were possibly the cheapest nasty orange juice I have ever tasted and the food not a whole lot better. A margarita pizza which was mediocre at best and rather greasy and a carbonara that smelt and tasted foul! After barely finishing our meals the lady cleared the table asking how everything was. This was the first time we were checked on after getting our food and therefore I didn’t refrain from informing her how disappointed we had been. She proceeded to smile and walk away without so much as an apology. After this we were not checked back on for a dessert menu or anymore drinks etc and felt slightly neglected. I signalled for a waiter in order to speak to the manager as we just weren’t happy at all. On her arrival we explained the situation and she proceeded to nervously laugh and offer us a dessert menu, which we politely declined and just requested the bill. She returned with the bill which, with the only saving grace for the restaurant, she had reduced in some form of compensation. We quickly paid and left and will not ever be returning.
I would not recommend this...
