Read moreOur experience was a mixed bag lucky for us we were one of the last "walk-in's" they were taking on Saturday afternoon. Having a prime spot in the window though a little chilly next to the door we felt lucky to get a table. As a group of 6 we sat having a good Christmas catch up, only broken up with staff telling the streams of walk in customers, it was now bookings only. This all started off polite enough before the management seemed to get more stressed and more shouty with walk in customers. Having been in for nearly 90 mins and our group having spent well over ÂŁ75, I needed to visit the bathroom, as I walked past the bar the manager didn't politely ask if I had a reservation or booking but decided the best action would be to shout very loudly at me, that it was bookings only. Obviously the first shout was ignored since our group had been in for a long time and I wasn't expecting to be accosted by this point which resulted in a second even louder shout, to which I slowly return to the bar and informed the shouty lady that I had been in for 90 mins. All this in a busy bar area, I am not sure if the member of staff felt embarrassed/stressed but her response to my information was equally abrupt and no apologise offered just a curt response of I didn't know. To put this in to context a friend in the toilets could hear the shouting! On exiting a friend suggested they could perhaps have a sign saying bookings only / no walk-in's to which a member of the staff turned round a blackboard sign that said exactly this! đ¤ At a little over ÂŁ24 for 2 pints, a single gin and tonic, half a coke and my non alcoholic beer the prices seem a little steep for the level of customer service on show...

In response to the below reply by staff to Felicity - If you have a absolute strict 100% no hat policy, you could have let us know: From the doorman when we entered the pub When we were at the bar and staff were serving us drinks 20 mins earlier By an actual member of staff who could have came to talk to us, rather than sending a doorman to kick off about a girl wearing a woolly hat (who confirmed afterwards that he was requested to confront my friend by a member of staff, not on his own accord)
In addition, the staff were certainly given an opportunity to resolve, as we talked to them on our way out. I told staff behind the bar that the doorman had upset our friend and that we were leaving, and the only response was a blunt "Okay, leave." I think that's totally fair to call it rude behavior.
REPLY: And as a manager, you have responsibility over the people you pay to be in your pub. That could be making sure the company you use for security is aware of your policies so that they don't harass patrons, or training your staff to say "Oh, I'm sorry, let me go get the manager to resolve this" and not be dismissive if a customer is upset. But seeing as you're the kind of person who mocks these kinds of reviews on your other social media outlets, I doubt...
