Went passed intended to eat elsewhere but, as we had not seen this place, decided to pop in. The prices are reasonable and the option of BYOB, it is a good choice locally. The food is pretty good, especially the crispy diced chicken with chilli, the spices sprinkled on that are just great. The sweet and sour chicken was plentiful and the sauce was subtle but there needs to be more vegetables on the plate. Also serving it in a bowl would be better than a plate which makes scooping the sauce difficult. The meat in the beef noodles was a little dry but the noodles had the flavour running through it. We enjoyed our meal but thought the lighting was too bright and could do with toning down, or the use of coloured lightbulb, something to make it look less like a school canteen. Good effort for a relatively new business and we will be back with our child to sample more from the extensive specials and value menus. Note: it...
Read moreThe Asian food in this town is so bad, but this place had really authentic dishes on the window, so I was excited. Then, I was disappointed (chips with curry sauce, agh) but then I realised - you have to tell them that you want the authentic Chinese menu, not the UK Chinese menu. All the dishes were good, especially the aubergine, but the fish in hot oil but a bit forgettable - not spicy enough and the fish was just cheap frozen fillets. Also, we saw people who had dumplings, but they were not on the menu. We just told them to bring us those. They were great! The lady who runs this place is really nice, and she loves dogs, so I really want to see this restaurant do well because finding real Chinese food in the UK is hard sometimes. Just be sure to tell her that you want the real...
Read moreI guess this place has a couple of different menus. One for the locals and tourists and the other one more of a hot pot style menu for authentic Chinese style food. We ordered 4 items from the regular menu and it was very very sweet. Even the chicken in schezuan sauce was too sweet, even though we had requested that the food be made spicy. The only saving grace were the fried noodles and the BYOB (we brought our own beers). The food is adequately priced for the portions you’re getting. You’re definitely getting a smaller portion if you order from the regular menu. Skip if you’re familiar with Chinese flavors or like Food that is not drenched and...
