What dreams (of pizza) are made of! This was my first time back in Cirencester post-lockdown so was feeling anxious therefore was mapping what was in the vicinity that felt safe. I am so glad that I chose to come here! The restaurant was well-ventilated and had outdoor seating. Pizza oven-prepared and nice to have open-plan so that you could see the chefs prepare using fresh ingredients. Sensorially, I have missed the whole experience of eating-out and imbibing an independent café culture - offering some much-needed respite from the gloom from this tragic past 18 months and what passes for a British summer. Support local businesses where you can! Whilst initially intimidated by the size of the menu, I found that the best test for an authentic Italian was to try their Margherita and as a half-day house, chose an extra topping from their own listing. No complicated up-selling on choosing specific dishes! Hands down, the best pizza I have ever eaten! Beautiful passata (rich but not over-seasoned), fresh basil leaves, lovely mozzarella (almost the consistency of cottage cheese with whey) and crisp sourdough. I arrived lunch late afternoon and whilst initially very quiet, covers started picking up in earnest. I was served by a very attentive and charming waitress, Elena. All in all, a business that deserves to thrive and has given me some happy memories too - my...
Read moreHad to pop to Cirencester, wanted to go for some pizza and found Amore Mio. The ice cream looked amazing and the pizza sounded great, as you can see from the pictures it did not disappoint. The staff were welcoming right from the off, we had two young kids with us and they all engaged with them straight away which put the kids at ease. They had Morreitti and Peroni on tap which is always good, and an extensive selection of nice wines. At ten pound a glass a bit pricey but very nice wine. The food was all beautifully made, pizza prepared in front of you and cooked in a lovely stone oven. As you can see from the pictures it was cheesy and amazing to the point the boy cleared his plate. They don’t do kids sizes for meals but are happy to box any uneaten food up for you to take away, which was great as are littlen wanted the spicy pasta which they also made to order so we will have the pasta for lunch. Finally the gelato ice cream, great choice even for the kids, the picture is bubblegum and Oreo and it was amazing.
The whole experience at Amore Mio was great, I will say they are on the slightly more pricey side of having pizza from a chain but it didn’t matter with the quality of staff and food being so good I didn’t mind paying the little extra because it was a great experience all round. We will be going back soon for sure well...
Read moreIt was good, fell short of great. It was an evening meal from 7 pm.
Good things: food was good, not exceptional service was fairly prompt, and our experience was polite enough, although we did overhear a waiter greet arriving guests with 'you didn't pay the deposit', which I think was pretty rude. Complimentary crisps, although these should be olives given its an Italian.
Not so good: a fairly small restaurant inside with too many tables, with poor acoustics it was fairly loud with everyone chatting away. the house wine didn't even come from a bottle which was a surprise given its price point. some customers made to sit outside with zero atmosphere, it was a little chilly and no heaters are set up, id have walked away if I was told to sit outside. quick enough to add high charges for things like extra cheese, etc, but didn't offer any savings to remove cheese from the meal, I find this hypocritical. 10% added service charge is a bit of a joke in the UK, if this is compulsory, then just add it to the price of the food and drink.
Overall, this isn't a cheap restaurant, and for the price point, you'd expect more and better. Reduce the prices by at least 25%, and you'd be getting what you paid for, just about. Or reduce the dining capacity and provide a better dining experience for this price point, you can't have...
