We have just left this pub very disappointed. We have asked a steak with chips and grilled mushroom but no mushroom was in the plate. I have pointed this issue with the waiter and he came back saying that they have run out of mushrooms. So I had asked any alternative. The waiter said that he going to ask but never came back. when I chase him he said that he forgot us. I went to the casher and he offer me a dessert. After waiting 20 minutes we left without the dessert as it never came to our table. I believed they set up us. they didn't care about a mushroom missed and ignore us for our complaint is the most awful things than can happen when you go out for dinner. Very disrespectful.

ANSWER TO THE OWNER AND THE TEAM

You have have a kitchen that run out of food and send dishes to the tables anyway,

you have waiters that serve food with missing products on the plate without telling the customers,

When I have asked for alternative I was kind and asked for any recommendation that the chef want to give me but after waiting for so long I had to chase up the waiter.

That waiter complete forgot us and told that there is a wait of 30 minutes for any food. (Basically he didn’t bother to ask)

The casher of course apologise and offer us a dessert but to be honest nobody told us that would be a wait for 30 minutes. It was an offer and after wait 30 minutes our food this offer should be serve quicker than normal. Consider that it was brownie and ice cream to plate that dish take a second(For what I see even the casher didn’t bother to ask the kitchen)

Said that forget that I give you a second chance as everyone here doesn’t care about good service, actually quite disrespectful. And to be honest, you are too expensive for the food...

Date: Sunday 27 April 2014 - Time 19.00 hrs Reservation for 2. Reception - Good Ambience - Good Drinks: Pinot Grigio and Rev James - Very good. Waiter service - good Food - Extremely disappointing. Starter: Garlic Bread - No garlic at all ( sent back) Mains: 1 x pork and I x Turkey. Meat very tasty, but presentation poor, with meat in both instances draped over the roast potatoes; possibly to hide the fact that they were overcooked, and had clearly been warmed form lunchtime fare. The other vegetables - carrots, cauliflower etc, were similarly lunchtime fare; tepid and tasteless The free coffee offered in recognition was welcome; however, ideally, we should not have been charged at all for this disaster.

We are locally based, and attended shortly after the premises were refurbished. The whole evening, including the cuisine, was excellent. so good that we returned 2 months later, but the experience was disappointingly dissimilar. We believed this might have been an aberration, and out of character, so we tried again, last Sunday, with even greater disappointment.

I remonstrated with the acting manager, who was empathetic and appeared embarrassed I stressed that the only reason we ate it was because we were both hungry!

Please be assured that I take no pleasure in writing this review; however, it is clear that some serious attention to detail is essential in this hostelry. I sincerely hope it recovers to its original standard; regrettably, we shall not return to make an...

Our food was fairly low to average and was not hot enough. One in our party ate less than 20% of her chicken meal. Whilst i accept some like al dente, my cabbage was close to raw. The service was on the whole, rushed and not attentive enough, ie, only two water glasses on the table, when my American friend asked what beers were available, the server hadn't got a clue and said he could look them up. And when we were hasstled 3 times for our desert order, twice we asked for additional time, we were talking and three times it was the servers who were pushy when in reality we still had good time on our table allocation. Automatically adding a service charge when the staff had not gone the extra mile is presumptious and this is starting to be come an issue in the restaraunt trade. If you think your staff deserve more, you can pay them extra or at least let them earn 15% to 18%

Auto tip, means they stop trying and standards drop. As a buttcomb loyalty card holder i was dissapointed.

Its ok ill go to a different pub next time and my lotalty will mean nothing.

In reviewing this post i want say Butt omb need to stop this auto tip. Had a sandwhich and a pint, supprisingly on paying i was yet again expected to tip.... for what? Cutting bread? Pouring my pint, or walking it 20 feet to place on my table and actually saying nothing to...

We ate here back in September for a Sunday Roast, travelling from Oxford on a suggestion, and it was by far the best Sunday Roast I've ever had; Sorry Nanny. So we knew in September that our Christmas meal would be here and we went on and booked it. It did not disappoint, the meal was amazing and large portions too. The food tasted just as amazing as it was presented. I would highly recommend this place to anyone within an hours drive, wanting the best of pub food. Pictures below are of both dessert, inside out Apple Tart and a Chocolate Expresso Brownie. Then the Duck Pâte and Turkey Stuffed Roast were my dishes, I don't seem to have pictures of her meal on my phone.

A return visit to the Bear, always a port of call when we are in Ciren. It was busy being half term but the pub welcomes kids which is nice to see. Two of us had the always excellent haddock and chips, I had the fish soup, very different and very tasty. We’re already booked in for our next visit in a couple of weeks time

It always helps when you visit a new place in the summertime but the outdoor garden area was really pleasant, especially with having a dog, just sat off Dyer Street was perfect for having a few beers. We waited until the main menu at 5pm and the food was amazing, they even do a dog chew menu 😃🍻
