Having visited this place twice, both experiences weren't anything to shout home about, in fact, there was something to let everyone know in advance 😱.
Firstly, on arrival it seemed like a nice pub, on my first visit I came to enjoy some food, a breakfast to see me throughout the day, the pub wasn't exactly busy and we found a nice comfy area to sit down. With orders placed our server came out and she seemed like a manager, nice and friendly but she looked overwhelmed, she was stressed about the visitors expecting that food ordered from the app would come out faster. In all fairness I can relate, I work with the public and sometimes their brains don't engage 🤣.
The food was ok, nothing to shout about, generic breakfast, Ive had better for cheaper and it seemed that it had been under a heat plate for ages.
The second visit was not a great experience, I visited with a friend for a catch up, he had his daughter with her and we sat down near the side of the bar, I went to order a drink and was ignored for a while, the old classic cough for attention helped, this did not impress the bar tender. He came across and as soon as he saw my friend's daughter, he said 'you 're going to have to leave that area this is over 18's only' I looked around and didn't see any obvious signs but it is what it is.
Then the worst thing that can happen in the black country happened 😱 I ordered a Lilley's cider and he asked if I wanted ice, I was like, ..... No. (Why would someone ask this) the 'pint' came to the bar, I say pint but it had about an inch less off the brim. I asked him to top it up please, he said 'its like that because you didn't ask for ice'. YOU WHAT, I ordered a pint not minus the angels kiss.
I felt conned and the service was...

Read moreBooked a table for 5 adults 2 weeks in advance for a special Birthday. 6pm on a Saturday. When we arrived we waited (and waited) for someone to come to the reception stand. When she finally arrived we stated that we had booked a table and we're asked 'how many for?'. Our names were never asked and we were told 'erm let me see, I don't know if I can fit you in'. We were then led to a table for 4 and and extra chair was squashed in. One menu between 5 of us and it was so noisy we couldn't hear each other speak. I approached the same staff member and asked if we could be moved to a bigger table as it wasn't comfortable and explained that I had prebooked 2 weeks ago. She said ' we don't have tables for 5'. I suggested that clearly a table for 6 would be most appropriate and one chair would just be spare. Eventually we were given a bigger table in a quieter area and I have to say the food was great as has always been the case. However, having booked so far in advance I would have expected an appropriate table to have been reserved and our names to have been checked against a list of other reservations. It just felt very chaotic, under staffed and unprofessional. I was a bit embarrassed because I'd booked it as a birthday treat for a family member and it just made the start of our evening very awkward. Just to add as a side note - the toilets...
